Why nothing about Rebecca Kern resigning?

It is a blemish on local media that a judge can abruptly resign and it takes almost 2 weeks for a mention.
Local media, broadcast media in particular, have such limited resources that they give disproportionate weight to the tragic stories they can quickly compile off the police scanner and the press releases spoon fed to them for things like MGM "job fairs".
And let's be real. While it might be a hot topic in our little bubble, the general public does not care about one of a dozen or so JPs resigning.
10:20 and 1:52, Sure, I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be covered by local media (although one can hope). But the real question is why not here on the gossip blog. That's why we come here right?
9:48–some of the reasons for this delay are those mentioned by 10:20(limited resources, plus an emphasis on the more salacious stories, etc.)
But the main reason, for the very limited and delayed coverage, is much more simple: the resignation of a JP(of which here are now quite a few) is really not that newsworthy or interesting.
No media outlet was going to do a deep dive on the issue as there is nothing to investigate, and it is not that interesting. When she indicates the move is motivated out of a desire to address family concerns, that is the end of it. If she desired to say more, she would have. There is simply nothing new or additional to report on or investigate.
1:40, that's all true that there may not be much to report beyond the resignation itself, but the brief item announcing the resignation could have been reported promptly without an almost two week delay.
People in the legal community seemed to know about it, but the media outlets still appeared to ignore reporting on it for some time.
"could have been reported promptly without an almost two week delay." Yeah sure it could have. But reporters, just like the rest of us, prioritize their time and efforts. Sorry, it's just not that newsworthy to the general public.
Well, we in the legal community understandably have a lot more interest in stories concerning our judiciary, so it is understandable we would have liked it to be reported more promptly.
But the media outlet realizes most readers and viewers are not in the legal community, and that most people simply would have no real interest.
Look at it this way. If some local administrator, for some sort of health care group or medical agency, were to resign that might be of some interest to those in the medical field. But we in the legal field, as well as most other people not in the medical field, would not care at all that it took two weeks for the media to announce the registration of such bureaucrat.
If you want to hear a story that was never reported, anywhere, consider that former District Court Judge Joe Pavlikowski died about 8 months ago. No obituary. No notice of any kind. He was the greatest judge I ever appeared before. Wonderful man.
