Got the PFizer vaccine. There was a little push back to me at Western HS where they administered the shot. However, I saw a number of attorneys and staff turned away. Had soreness at the injection site the day after but nothing after that one day.

So basically don't go to Western HS. Go to Cashman Center. The National Guard is organized and handling things without the BS.

We had attorneys go to both sites. Western was much faster than Cashman. Not sure if things have improved at Cashman.

But if they're turning people away at Western, a short wait time doesn't do you any good. Go to Cashman – they aren't turning away attorneys.

Depending on the location they are only accepting 70+ people. Got the Vaccine at Cashman today, waited 1 hr 20 min until I got the vaccine. I'm in private practice I just said that I am an attorney and I showed a pay stub and that was all they needed. No side effects at all from the vaccine so far.

Got it yesterday. Told the check-in person that I have clients who are incarcerated, which is true, and he let me in line.

Shoulder aches but not too bad, reminds me of getting hit by a pitch in little league.

So, I handle criminal law, but I was refused a shot. I am glad that Aaron Ford got his shot over me, a 65 year old with underlying. Tried UNLV, pure assholes. No more support from me. Your public affairs department should be fired in how they have been treating the public about the vaccine clinic.

12:13–yes, you are in a precarious situation and should be prioritized for the vaccination.

But that does not change the fact that 11:59 may have a valid point that you, at 10:14,tried to blame some politician being prioritized over you, as the reason you still don't have the vaccination.

The simple truth is that, as we can see from the various posts, there are differing options–with different waiting periods and different degrees of competency of service–and that you need to bite the bullet and select an option(I recognize you already attempted UNLV, but you need to keep plugging away).

To delay doing so, which imperils you(which, by extension, causes stress and consternation to your loved ones), and to justify the delay or neglect by offering the age-old gripe that elected people and prominent people receive preferential treatment, is neither mature nor responsible.

Of course, it is all unfair and these elected officials got serviced early on in the process, and presumably without a wait. Again, everyone has known since the beginning of time that prominent people in the public eye often receive advantages they don't deserve.

You can't change that. You can't change the world. You are 65, and apparently of somewhat compromised health(diabetes, etc. Get business handled and get your injection, rather than wasting time bitching about Aaron Ford or calling 12:13 a "prick."(which, truth be told, 12:13 was sort of a prick, as they could have made the same point in a non-inflammatory manner).

But, at age 65, 12:13 needs to finally grow up a bit and take care of business rather than refusing to do so because there are a privileged few that are not required to "wait".

12:52 – you're very nice to go into that lengthy explanation as to why the OP is acting like an ass, but to suggest that 11:59 was a prick is off base. I thought the exact same thing when I read the original comment. Aaron Ford has nothing to do with OP getting his vaccination. To me, OP comes across as some grumpy old dude who wants to blame his woes on the world and not actually do anything about it. Get online, sign up with the health district for a vaccine, and go to a different location. Sorry UNLV sucks. Move on. Get vaccinated elsewhere. Or post online about Aaron Ford getting vaccinated. Whatevs.

And the above posts are why you Las Vegas attorneys have a bad reputation, including Aaron Ford. You all are a bunch of assholes to be trolling a senior having a hard time about getting a vaccine when they should be at the front of the line instead of a 40s Aaron Ford. I have not been to get an appointment either.

If you have any grasp of american history you would know that black americans have a lot of reason to be suspicious of govt health programs…Tuskegee and whatnot. Aaron Ford and other black leaders have publicized their vaccinations in order to get more POC, and specifically black americans, vaccinated so that we can get closer to herd immunity and stop COVID. Statistics are already showing that white people have much higher rates of COVID vaccinations. It only works and we only beat COVID if we ALL participate – mask up, stay home, wash your hands, and get vaccinated.

Politicians by definition meet and interact with a lot of people – they absolutely should get vaccinated ASAP. Your crusty old "put them last" BS is dumb, short-sighted, and anti-science.

Ordinarily I'd agree with 10:19. But politicians also have a duty to educate the public when necessary to help with public goals. Assuaging distrust of the vaccine in order to help reach herd immunity is 100% valid. Showing that a leader in the black community is getting it is a good thing. I guess unless you're one of the people who puts quotation marks around the word vaccine. Then there's nothing anyone can say to placate you.

When race is relevant, yes we will. How does your race have anything to do with it? My race doesn't. It's a real issue (whether it impacts you individually or not) and some black politicians, like Ford, are doing what they can to publicize the safety of the vaccine.

BTW – when you feel the need to announce your IQ to substantiate your claim of "not dumb," you just sound dumb. Something about protesting too much…

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/black-americans-are-getting-covid-vaccines-at-lower-rates-than-white-americans/

Here is some science on the issue since y'all are clearly too lazy to google it for yourself.

I'm 10:07 and 10:28 and I'm not a politician. Since this is a law blog I assume most if not all of us are well educated, but clearly that is no remedy to willful ignorance. Politicians absolutely should be getting vaccinated first. They interact with lots of people, they have the ability to publicly demonstrate the safety of the vaccine, and they travel a lot…plus they are literally the leadership of our state and country. We kinda need them whether you like it or not.

But by all means…keep up the 80s anti-govt rhetoric. Just know you aren't at all relevant. The more you comment like that, the more ignorant and irrelevant you sound.

You seem like the type who engages in jingoism and bumper sticker politics rather than critical thinking. All of those things indicate that you would be a poor educator for my hypothetical children.

Your statement that I think I can cut into the line over seniors is odd. Where did I say I could cut the line? That's an ad hominem attack that does not contribute to the conversation.

Finally, I am very interested in knowing how you know that Ford has ED? Spill the tea, bitch. Details!

11:03/3:04, "cutting the line" is a non-starter. Vaccination of the senior population is being done parallel with vaccination of the different "frontline" job functions. Are cops and fire jumping the line? How about teachers? Water/sewer/electrical workers? Are they jumping the line? Look, the decision has been made that lawyers, especially those in the CJ field fall into Phase 2. We're currently in Phase 2 of the plan. Under the plan it's literally both seniors' and lawyers turn in line. So be quiet and stop with the personal attacks.

Ah, yes, 3:53's opinion. Because your opinion is entitled to equal weight compared with the explanation 3:26 gave. Your "opinion" is not grounded in fact. Your opinion actively ignores facts and is in direct contrast with facts. It's lawyers' turn in line. A person whose turn it is cannot by definition be a line jumper. Be quiet.

When did the state bar become government? Lawyers are a self-regulating profession. The bar is NOT government. But thank you for the 80s throw back when we had national policy set by an actor with dementia.

Now tell us about how Walgreens subsidizes stockholder dividends with tax-payer funded health care (medicaid) for their employees and how that's so great for the country.

I don't like the real reason the Idaho delegation wants to create a new federal circuit court, but I've advocated this for many years simply on the absurdity of the current circuit's population and case load. I suggested this to the late Judge George many years ago and at the same time advocated that SCOTUS should have one Associate Justice for each Article III court of appeals. The high court is simply too small for the amount of power it wields.

Splitting the 9th Cir.
An appealing idea, dump the CA people since the judges from other states in the circuit generally have more common sense. The downside is that if you turn loose a solely CA circuit, we will get more really wild decisional authority.

That is SO true. I remember when on the endless family road trips of the 1960's and I would whine to my Dad about stopping to get something to eat, he would always say, "Eating is death. 100% of all people who eat eventually die." He was always very amused with this.

I wanted to use this on my own kids when they were young but my wife, who doesn't believe in teasing, tormenting, or otherwise bullying your own children wouldn't let me.

Went to Mack middle school and received the Pfizer vaccine. Was in and out about 30 minutes after my scheduled time. Slightly sore arm the day after and that's about it. Dress warm, the line is outside. Their initial comment was that they weren't administering vaccines to private law firm attorneys "at that location, but may be at other locations"; however, I showed the individual an order appointing me as counsel over two minors in conjunction with Legal Aid and explained that I was also pro bono counsel to a handful of indigent/minor clients and he let me right in. My unsolicited advice, don't be a jerk about it and be fine walking away if they aren't going to let you in. Go try another day at another location and more than likely you'll get in. One of the individuals ahead of me immediately threw a fit and was quickly turned away (sounded like he as also a private law firm attorney).

Serious question: I'm an old guy, retired up in St. George and I post on here from time to time. I was thinking this morning that I really have only "known" or tried to know 3 areas in my life i.e., law, martial arts (I was fanatical in my younger days), and poker as a hobby. So in martial arts I would see guys try to take each other's heads off to even accidentally getting dislocated shoulders, etc. and then be the best of friends. In poker, I have taken and had taken from me hundreds of dollars (a lot to me for a hobby) from great friends. But in the legal system, it seems that in many cases opposing counsel made life long "enemies." I just wonder why we could not have competed and then put that aside. I don't think it was just me as I saw it pervasively in the little cliques that formed at the Courthouse. Anyway, I hope I didn't intrude upon our day. We old guys can start to ramble a bit when the days are not filled with frenzy and start to slow. Take care friends.

Okay, I check this blog at least once a day to see what's going on out there, and I need more of this old retired guy up in St. George. He's always even-keeled, he doesn't waste his time commenting on the daily headlines (why would he — he's retired), he just posts a question and then gives us a little insight into his thoughts on the issue raised by the question. I find the minute or two I spend reading and thinking about his posts to be relaxing. Please old retired guy up in St. George, post more often. You are helping at least one attorney in Las Vegas maintain his sanity.

Hey, old retired guy, I try to keep friendly with opposing counsel in all of my cases. I learned this from my father, who always turned off the competition when the courtroom door closed behind his and his adversary. However, I find in Las Vegas that many attorneys are dishonorable pricks who will try to blindside you. E.g., people who will grant an extension on the phone and then deny having done so. So these people become life-log enemies.
