After it seemed universal that departments no longer wanted counsel to do paper courtesy copies after COVID, we are starting to get pushback from departments that they do want paper courtesy copies. I know 19, 22 and 31 all demand paper courtesy copies. Any other departments?
1998 called and wants its paper courtesy copies back. Why should this ever be necessary in this day and age?
I feel a disturbance in the legal force… as if thousands of paper filings at the Clerk’s Office (stamped in triplicate) had cried out to be revived, and were silenced by people not practicing as if they were in the 1990s.
Yeah, that’s dumb. And it increases litigation costs for the parties. If departments really want paper, they should have to print it themselves. But that’s also a problem because their budgets are funded with taxpayer dollars. BAN PAPER CCs!!! FIGHT THE POWER!!!
You’re kidding, right? This is absurd.
Kishner demanding something dumb. Imagine that.
She’s a great judge!
Kishner actually prefers thumb drives.
So which departments require it?
Check the department guidelines. Sheesh.
Can we agree McLeod should not be a judge?
1000% agree. She was lured into running by someone who promised to bankroll her campaign and turned out to be not exactly honest.
Which time?
Where are Dan Gilliam, Tracey Hibbets?? Did they pull a Jake Villani and only out in their names for sh*ts?? At least Alex Hubert is doing something. I mean, it’s all weird, but it’s something. I’m not sure he knows he’s running to be a judge. His podcasts are strange.
They don’t have primaries, so they are likely waiting until after tomorrow to ramp up their campaigns.
Good luck to Pete Thunell. Might be my favorite judge!!
Where is Noreen DeMonte? Can she please do TikTok videos like Danielle Tarmu? I really want to know what’s in their handbags!!
Should there be a Tik-Tok dance-off for candidates? If so, which dances are we talking about here?
State Bar puts out an In Memoriam page for Leo Bergin and Jim Bradshaw from McDonald Carano. Is this something new?
That’s a tricky undertaking because of the offense that may be caused by an inadvertent oversight or non-recognition of the passing of a member.
The juvenile-charging story is the one that warrants attention from anyone AV-rated long enough to remember when the question was considered settled. Charging a minor as an adult for livestock harm is the kind of prosecutorial creativity that generates a plethora of collateral proceedings – each properly billable, each with its own fee schedule, each requiring its own engagement letter. I cannot say the bench will resist the impulse toward adult certification; in my experience, courts mistake severity of facts for legal sufficiency of the charging theory, which is not the same thing and has never been. The motion practice alone is six months of serious work for whoever draws this matter.
6 months in a 40-year career is a blink of an eye.
Hi All, Looks like Hooge is proposing to change the rules again. Does anyone know more about it? I have attached a link to register if you want to address the Board of Governors. https://ow.ly/naaO50Z7Pj0.
I don’t see any kind of agenda on that link.
It is not on the agenda and I was hoping someone knew more about it, here.I just was told it was really bad and it was left there.
There doesn’t seem to be an agenda. I even looked through the last 2 months of E-News just to see if there was ever a link. Nope. If you want to make a public comment, you need to sign up by Wednesday. Comment on what? 3 minutes of whatever you want, I guess. Tough to comment on agenda items when the agenda is absent.
