I have a family member who would have died, but for the heroes at Sunrise Hospital. Thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff.

The county’s efforts to stifle competition for UMC, i.e. “turf protection,” are disgraceful and literally costing lives.

re: Sunrise
Let’s not act like this is some altruistic, “fighting for the common man” argument for Sunrise. We’re talking about an institution that netted $200 million in 2024. They have everything to gain from becoming a Level 1 trauma center. They get to charge higher fees and enhanced reimbursement rates.
Apples and oranges. UMC self-disclosed, and it was for less than $1 million. You’re kinda proving the point too. All of the hospitals are fraudsters in the valley.
I mean, what’s even your argument? OP’s thesis is we shouldn’t be congratulating Sunrise or slapping them on the back. Getting a level 1 trauma center is a business decision to increase shareholder value, end of story.
Nobody said it was an altruistic fighting for the common man argument. Straw man much?
I could recount to you the fiscal and other scandals at taxpayer-financed UMC but I don’t have all day to spend doing that.
Overall, it’s probably beneficial. Perhaps somewhat less beneficial that it’s less than 3 miles (as the crow flies) from the existing level 1 trauma center, but I suppose both of them being in the center of the region kind of makes natural sense.
Case No. A-20-820384-B. this is not a new case, but Coyote Springs recently moved on from their Reno attorney and hired Mark Hutchison. The state has Jeff Sylvester and recently requested that the case be transferred from Judge Denton to a water judge, which happens to be Judge Yeager in the 8th JD.
I am no fan of Harvey Whittemore (or Harry Reid) but what a screwed up case of overprosecution that destroyed a guy. As far as Coyote Springs, I remember when Pardee Homes (who my firm represented at the time) pitched us on getting in on the ground level of Coyote Springs. I thought Las Vegas already has a bedroom community or two 60 minutes away which cheaper land and houses– Boulder City and Pahrump. No way were people going to buy houses out in the middle of nowhere.
No one who has spent any time in Pahrump would seriously consider buying a house there. Unless perhaps they were looking to expand their meth business.
At the time Coyote Springs was being developed largely by Pardee, William Lyon Homes was marketing the Pahrump golf course for the same purposes (golf course living at a lower price outside of Las Vegas) with the added bonus that Pahrump already had a Wal-Mart. But it was the same marketing concept as Coyote Springs
Pahrump is like taking a small slice of Clark County and placing it in a rural environment. If you want a slower pace of life, clean air and quietness it is a place for you. It is lacking in a lot of the amenities of Las Vegas, Henderson or Northtown. But homes are cheaper with larger lots. Missing things like movie theaters, restaurants and recreational stuff. But has lots of outdoorsy things. Medical care/dental leaves much to be desired. It is the pick of the litter for rural Nevada. Close to other nice areas. It is a live and let live kind of place. Have relatives that live there. They liked it but did move back.
Pahrump is just like Vegas except [long list of things that Vegas has that Pahrump doesn’t].
For me, Gardnerville or Glenbrook are pick of the litter for rural Nevada. Anything that’s down south that’s not LV, NLV, Henderson or Boulder City is going to be rough.
It’s southern Nevada, and it’s all a desert and all, but Pahrump is perhaps even more water insecure than the Las Vegas valley. That’s a major, understated reason to not buy property there.
Someone in the alleged so-called “deep state” still has a sense of timing: the news of the indictment came yesterday on the sixth anniversary of the WHO declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic. Bravo!
I don’t know Harvey, but the NSC would not even allow him to reinstate his license even though it let Harry Claiborne back in after conviction, imprisonment and impeachment. His “crime” was pretty lame.
That is not accurate. He was temporarily suspended in 2013. He filed a Petition a month later to be conditionally reinstated during the pendency of his disciplinary proceedings (because he had not even had a final disciplinary hearing yet). In March 2015, he was suspended for four years. Whittemore never petitioned to be reinstated after his suspension ended. So the assertion that that the NSC never allowed him to reinstate is false.

How important are endorsements? Also, how many firms actually have list servs where they’re sending endorsements of who to vote for for judges. Been around almost thirty years and never heard of this til recently.
Little surprise here. KPVM is basically a wholly owned subsidiary of MAGA. The station and its Trump loving owner were featured in the 2021 HBO docuseries Small Town News: KPVM Pahrump.
The “Fiore Files, Breaking the Narrative” series is set to premiere on Channel 25 every Monday at 6pm following News, and will also air over Ace Country radio on Wednesdays at 10am after Kinkaid and Dallas.
Breaking the Narrative? Breaking the Law and getting pardoned. Stealing $70,000 from deceased police officers. You cannot make this stuff up.
The folks at Sunrise saved my son’s life. I’ll be forever grateful.
They just saved my grandson’s life too. I too will be forever grateful.
Is 11:16 10:55’s father?
10:55 here. No. Different children.

And let’s not forget 5 short years ago they were proven to be actively defrauding the government:

You mean as opposed to UMC that was found 4 months ago to be actively defrauding the Federal Government.

Altruistic or not, is another Level 1 trauma center in this valley somehow NOT beneficial for the community writ large?
Overall, it’s probably beneficial. Perhaps somewhat less beneficial that it’s less than 3 miles (as the crow flies) from the existing level 1 trauma center, but I suppose both of them being in the center of the region kind of makes natural sense.
Case No. on Coyote Spring state court case?

Is Hutchison back from Virginia?
Yes.
Coyote Springs sounded like a bad idea to me from day one, even before Harvey got himself into trouble.

Pahrump is full of weirdos and political extremists. I’ll take the isolation of Coyote Springs over a Wal-Mart in Pahrump every time.
And what do you think lives at the Clark/Lincoln County line?
Pahrump is like taking a small slice of Clark County and placing it in a rural environment. If you want a slower pace of life, clean air and quietness it is a place for you. Cannot agree that Vegas and Pahrump are just slices of each other. Vegas is practically Paris compared to Pahrump.
Vegas and Pahrump ar both shitholes. Pahrump is just further away from the airport.
Pahrump is just like Vegas except [long list of things that Vegas has that Pahrump doesn’t].

Speaking of Pahrump, former county commissioner Leo Blundo was just indicted by Feds for COVID fraud and related offenses.
Nothing a trip to MAL and a “pardon contribution” can’t fix.

When I first read the title, I read it as “Fiore Files, Breaking Bad”.
