About 120k new votes in Dept. 29 overnight. Reynolds lead holds, but drops from 5600 to 4000. It would be helpful to know approximately how many votes remain, but they are not giving that information out. I am big fan of J.R. and am hopeful his lead holds. He is one of our better civil judges. Would be a tragedy to lose him to another prosecutor.

I hope he wins too. He’s one of those judges that even when he rules against you, you’re like, “Yeah, that’s probably correct.”

Agreed. I practice plaintiff-side PI and think he tends to be defense-oriented, but haven’t yet felt like he completely got a decision wrong even when ruling against me. Good for the bench.

It’s really not possible to discern how many votes are left. You can tell how many uncounted ballots there are, but because a voted ballot might be blank in any given race, just because a ballot is uncounted doesn’t mean there’s a vote to be counted in a race. The best you can do is try to extrapolate from what the apparent undervote rate is when you compare the ballots cast vs. total votes in a given race.

Reynolds’ challenger is barely even a prosecutor, he’s only been in that position for a few years and has done little other than run for judicial positions since he’s been there. Claggett and the PI Patrol backed him to be a clueless stooge in a robe beholden to his benefactors. He’d be an embarrassment in any area of law, just as Santeramo is likely to be.

Was Santeramo supported by the coalition? The coalition did not too very well here.

Both Santeramo and Quagge were backed by left leaning groups in a Blue Tsunami election. Quagge went out of his way to post social media pics campaigning with Aaron Ford. As to whether the PI mafia are patrons, I have no information either way.

Bonnie wasn’t bad if you weren’t a dumbass and followed the rules. Can you imagine listening to people squabble over basic discovery requests that should have been responded to without court intervention? We’ve become a bar where making stupid arguments is without penalty and either causes months of delay or financial burden on the otherside.

I’d be a sanctioning maniac. There would be standard rules and there would be a limit to motions. You can tell me why documents are discoverable in 3 sentences. If there is some special legal issue or facts. tell me and I’ll ask for briefing or not. But stop trying to justify why text messages are confidential. And no, “you have access to the documents too” is not an objection to an RFP.

Maybe a Republican who was hoping for a high level position at the AG’s Office if the election went the other way?

Arkansas discovered someone changed bar exam scores (resulting in some people passing that failed, and at least one person who passed, changed to failed) over the last 6 years

That story is INSANE. I want to know the motive, which the statement did not address. My guess would be that she was getting some kind of bribe to help certain individuals pass? If so, I wonder what their consequences would look like. Also imagine the person who was changed from pass to fail.

What a wild election. Crazy but not unexpected results all around. Still can’t believe Jauregui is Lt Gov. Anyone remember her from her clubbing days? I sure do.
