Based on how the male candidates and incumbents performed against any women in any judicial race, nothing else seems relevant. Matt Walker – incumbent, endorsed by nearly every union and entity in Nevada, 94% retention rating – defeated by female challenger. Alex Hubert – endorsed by nearly every organization as well, similar but worse results.
So at this point we can fairly reliably conclude from the voting data that endorsements, campaign managers, party slate cards, negative press, retention surveys, ad campaigns, money raised, etc. mean absolutely nothing when the choice is “man vs. woman.” I’m curious to see which female attorney beats Judge Lalli in 2028.
How? It’s not as though it would mean anything. Say Judge Smith-Williams is unopposed and 70% of the people say “none of the above.” Great, six years later someone can run against them and hope the 70% disapproval rating still holds. In the meantime we’re stuck with Smith-Williams.
NONE OF THE ABOVE: That is how I voted on the 2 Supreme Court Justices. An arrogant snob and a guy who knowingly sent an innocent man to prison and kept him there.
“In May 2019, while testifying before the Nevada Legislature in support of Assembly Bill 267 (legislation to compensate the wrongfully convicted), a tearful Herndon acknowledged his role in the wrongful conviction, admitting that exculpatory evidence had been withheld and that the case weighed heavily on him.”
Weighed heavily on him? I would think so. An innocent man spent 21 years in prison.
If the apps closer Nov Nov 18, and the commission has to revue and vet and interview, is there even time for Lombardi to appoint? Maybe if no one else puts in they’ll fast track Lalli. If there are others, given the time and holidays coming up, it might be a Ford appointee.
They can’t close the period before the posted period. That would be unconstitutional. They don’t need to fast track anything. Bluth’s retirement left them plenty of time to appoint, regardless of who won the election.

The Clark County Election website is atrocious.
(1) The yellow/green/orange/pink color theme is difficult to read and says nothing about party affiliation, even in partisan races.
(2) There is no party designation for candidates.
(3) The website does not give a time that it was last updated.
(4) It does not state how much of the vote has been counted or indicate if any precincts are still waiting to be counted.
(5) It does not list whether a party was an incumbent.
(6) It does not indicate whether a partisan race flipped;
(7) It does load correctly in some fields on iPhones (I do not know about other mobile devices).
They should be ashamed. A county with that much money and resources is surely capable of doing better.
And to the point- how much of the vote hasn’t been counted is really important to know right now. We have two close races in Depts. 29 and 30. Jerry Wiese conceded, and I assume he did the math and figured out that whatever was left was not enough to make up for his deficit. At the same time, Jacob Reynolds is up by 5k votes and posted a statement that congratulations are not yet in order because his race is unresolved. a 5,000 vote lead against 300,000 outstanding votes is very different from a 5,000 vote lead against 20,000 outstanding votes.
According to NBC, 87% of the vote has been counted. Not sure how reliable that is. Assuming that’s true, Quagge will need about 53% of the vote to close the gap with Reynolds. This seems very doable given that early voters lean left.
My exact sentiments. It was very difficult to interpret. Who won? That should be readily apparent, the readerr should not have to search for that answer.
Here’s some inferred math on the number of votes left to count. 673,810 votes have been counted in Clark County in the Governors race. As of 8 PM last night, after the polls closed (but before everyone in line voted), Ralston said there had been 661k votes cast in Clark County. https://x.com/RalstonReports/status/2117823112406532493/photo/1
The very unclear Clark County Election site says there are 676k total votes. Whether that’s votes COUNTED or votes CAST we don’t know because that’s a really shitty site. The Governors race has 673k total votes cast AND COUNTED. So maybe there are around 4k votes outstanding? That would explain why Jerry Wiese conceded, the outstanding votes are less than his deficit. If there really are only 4k votes left, Reynolds is probably pretty safe.
He has conceded on Facebook. Elections are a core part of democracy. But, at the same time, who looks at Jerry Wiese and says, “Well, I’m unknown, unheard of and I am pretty sure I could do a better job than Jerry Wiese.” GTFO.
good example of don’t piss of the democrats, unions or powers that be, otherwise a population that has no idea who to vote for relies on pamphlets sent to them as to who they should vote for.
Not voting for a race is better than blindly following what some group tells you to do.
Well, probably most of the Nevada Congressional members were upset – but may they see this as a warning about their future if they continue taking donations from AIPAC and putting Israel first over their own constituents and country. They can either condemn the genocide or end their careers.
You think if the election went the other way we’d be doing anything to help the people of Iran other than bombing their country? The administration doesn’t give a shit about them.
We got into the war because Israel wanted the Iranian leadership killed and goaded Trump into it. And then we had to continue it because Iran used their only leverage to close the strait and damage oil/gas production in the gulf (which was entirely foreseeable).
They were close to an A-bomb and would be a bigger bully than they already are. We have been in conflict with Iran since they took our hostages in ’79. Nobody did anything about them except Trump and the Israelis. Now we won’t finish the job. They had enough material to make 6 A-bombs. The peace deal they were offered was going to rebuild Iran. They rejected it.

A former client (a p.i. plaintiff) has received a very grim medical diagnosis. Her employer immediately terminated her. I need to recommend a good ADA Employment atty. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
It is, in fact, a violation of the ADA to terminate someone with a “grim diagnosis” if the diagnosis indicates a disability and an accommodation would not be an undue burden. BTW, accommodation can include leave. Furthermore, there are possible FMLA implications.

Congratulations. We elected a person who is work adverse as governor, and a senator that has done very little except vote the way Schumer tells her to vote. In other states, we elected socialist, communist and terrorist organization sympathizers. A wonderful outcome.
That Woody Guthrie fella was right.
cringe
oh fk that guy
Qualifications for judicial election:
1) Be female.
2) See #1.

Having None of The Above for all the positions on the ballot would help a lot.
Why is it an option for supreme court justices but not any of the other judges?
By law it’s only available for statewide races. https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/nrs-293.html#NRS293Sec269
It’s also only advisory in nature; it can’t win, and if it did win, the candidate with the most votes wins.
Huh, never knew that. Thanks for the response!

At least it might telegraph to future potential candidates how unpopular an unopposed candidate is.

Agreed, it’s absolutely terrible.

This doesn’t include mail ballots still coming in or ballots needing to be cured. Another batch drops tonight. It is around 25,000 still uncounted.
Suggestion: The web site is intentionally hard to read. Better to keep the unwashed ignorant.
Blue Monsoon!
Bluenami!
Bluekakke
I just choked on my coffee 🙂
At times like these we need to get Ja Rule on the phone. Ja! Help me understand.
Relatively obscure Dave Chappelle references? I am here for it sis.
I want some answers that Ja Rule might not have right now!
I have rewatched that clip so many times!
I’m glad someone did. I was starting to think I’m too old.
It’s insane to me that Jerry Wiese’s race is this close.

I am a lawyer, and I didn’t vote in any of the family races, except for Jennifer Isso because I was in a mood to watch the world burn.
Ha. I almost voted for Treffinger for the same reason. But I couldn’t do it in good conscience.
Wiese will be making mediator money very soon. Good for him.
israel loses
and nobody was sad

Wow…
So do the people of Iran begging for freedom and help. There’s another REALLY sad part of this “blue tsunami” that people are choosing to ignore.
lmao.

Tell me you know nothing about Iran without telling me… So it’s only okay if it’s Pro-Palestine and the US is involved. cool cool cool.
@2:38 Iran is a big issue, sponsoring terrorism, and God help us if the get their nuke.
They were close to an A-bomb and would be a bigger bully than they already are. We have been in conflict with Iran since they took our hostages in ’79. Start with Daniel Marks
Make sure you temper their expectations. Firing someone with a grim diagnosis that prevents them from doing their job is not a violation of the ADA.

are you okay? there were no senators up for reelection yesterday.
