The Powerball jackpot will be a near-record $1.5 Billion on Saturday. Should Nevada be part of the lottery and what”s your plan if you win? Are you calling a lawyer? Are you forming an entity to claim the prize?
I would love it if the Powerball jackpot and lottery tickets came to Nevada! I have fantasies all the time about the frustrations I would be forced to deal with if I won the millions. It would be fun to have those "problems". I have NO idea what I would actually do if I actually won but it's fun to contemplate!
State lotteries are actually a disservice to the poor, who spend disproportionately on lottery tickets. (Yep, I know, slots do the same). But the history of state lotteries is checkered. Promises of money going to schools in practice results in decreased general funding to schools in the same amount as the lottery revenue.
Considering Nevada has no lottery and is last in education, maybe it's time Nevada gets a lottery to fund education. Maybe a coincidence? #NVneedsalottery

We would have had the lottery a long time ago if amending the state constitution wasnt such a pain in the ass
Is there any way to find, statistically by # of attorneys at a firm (1-5, 6-10, 11-20, over 20 for example) of a ratio of bar complaints filed to the number of bar complaints investigated? I'm curious as to if bar complaints against larger firms have a lower chance of being investigated. I know there may be more bar complaints with larger firms solely based on the number of attorneys and the number of cases they do, but they deal with a lower number of clients so that may offset that.
Re: Girardi
I never tried a case with Girardi, but back in the day I did have cases with his firm. The firm did good work, was always prepared. Age is not your friend.

Decades ago, Tom kicked my butt pre-trial by home-towning me in Orange County Superior Court. Everything Tom asked the judge for was granted. In trial, the judge was also very much on Tom's side, but the jury was not, and came up with a reasonable decision.
I was surprised about the accusations, but not about Tom's ability to get favors from the CA State Bar.

They are not a disservice. I give you 1% credit for not calling it a "tax" on the poor. No one is forcing anyone to buy a lottery ticket.
