In 1995, the entire world believed OJ Simpson decapitated his wife and her friend. OJ shocked the world. And now, Telles will do it again!

Wolfson is currently on safari in Africa, so I don’t think he’s too worried.

I’m too young to remember the day that OJ was acquitted. I always wondered what that day was like.

Now, I won’t have to wonder anymore. When Telles is acquitted I’ll experience what that day was like.

Nobody has any respect for Jeff German, just the same bad jokes on repeat.

Agreed. The jokes are lame. German wasn’t just murdered, he was brutally stabbed to death, an excruciating, terrifying death. He was left to bleed out and die on the side of his house where his body sat out in the heat for a full day. Worse, he was (allegedly) murdered because of his work as a journalist. This is a shocking murder that shouldn’t be trivialized, even if the jokes are intended to be at the expense of Telles.

Shitting on Telles is some peoples’ way of providing justice for German. It doesn’t trivialize German’s death. We can’t undo what happened; but we can certainly treat Telles with the contempt and ridicule he so richly deserves.

Telles is going to prison, where he will spend the rest of his natural life in pain, anguish, filth, and danger. That doesn’t undo Jeff German’s death; but it’s all we’ve got.

It was a day I’ll never forget. My firm at the time (on the east coast) brought in a high-end caterer and even provided a full bar for the pending “celebration” which never took place. Horror at watching the verdict on TV is what I recall the most. We can only hope that is not the case here.

Can we watch the jury selection in the Telles trial? It begins at 1:00 PM, right?

I don’t understand where the Telles defense is going. Are they going to say he was framed or not? If not, are they just going to attack chain of custody issues? What is going on with this defense????? It also doesn’t help that every quote Draskovich gives the media screams, “Yeah, he’s guilty but I’m going through the motions.”

This is not an attack on Draskovich, but there is no coherent defense. They have no evidence for the framed theory. As often happens in these cases, Bob (D) has tried to get Rob (T) to pick a lane that at least leads to a coherent story as opposed to denying that the sky is blue. Bob has a very difficult client. It is harder than one might imagine to go to the media with a full-throated quote that one knows is utterly ridiculous.

So defense counsel reading this, what would you do here? Would you have even taken the case (assuming you’re being paid in full)? How would you handle RT as a client? What would be your strategy for trial?

To me, this looks like an exercise in futility, a total waste of time. It makes me contempt for RT even greater because he has already harmed his family enough. Now he’s burned up $100k on a incoherent defense. His wife and kids could have definitely used that money. Another reason why Rob is a real piece of shit.

I would NOT have taken the case for the sole reason that I will never voluntarily be second, third, fourth, etc counsel on a case. I don’t care what the client says or how much it pays. Recycled clients are trouble.

Fiore and her ilk are all grifters. Donating to any cause she’s affiliated with is silly. You might as well just mail her a hallmark card and a stack of cash. Funny how this particular fund was to honor a police officer. Sounds like another politician who had a charity to honor veterans that turned out to be a big scam. Almost like…well, nevermind.

Yes. Too bad for that whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing. We could just skip the whole due process thing and imprison her on the indictment.

If you’re so old with all four of your digits then you know there are things we know and there are things we can prove in court and those things are rarely if ever the same. Also this is an anonymous (mostly) blog, not a court. I don’t have to (nor do I) observe constitutional protections in my personal opinions, but I’m sure you do and that’s what makes you so much fun at a cocktail party.

But, as a practitioner, how does one sacrifice logic and objectivity in favor of the emotional bullshit that is spouted by the likes of 12:53pm?

Admittedly, I have been doing this a very long time, but it still makes sense to me to develop the (day to day) things that I get emotional about through the eyes of said logic and objectivity before the emotion gets ahold of me and I start using words like “ilk”, “grifters” and “scam”.

I am no more defending Fiore than I was defending the hillbillys who used the phrase “hanging tree” when talking to a black man.

But, hey, I get that you hate her for her politics and assume her guilt before a jury or a plea. Knock yourself out. But leave that shit for X or TikTok. Because I still choose to think that those of us who frequent this blawg, aspire to be a little more high brow in our analysis and approach.

Absolutely. Do I have opinions on what I suspect happened? Yes. But do I trust the Office of USA? Not in the slightest. Do people settle or plead guilty in cases for risk management purposes where if all other things were equal they probably shouldn’t? All the time. Do people take cases to trial where they have an ice cube’s vacation plans through Hades? All of the time (see Telles above). But that is why we have trials and cases. I don’t presume Fiore’s guilt because she has ridiculous politics even to his Republican, was a lousy city councilperson, a self-aggrandizing loud mouth or an incompetent JP. Her guilt or non-guilt will come on the evidence.

What happened to German was beyond awful.

But the truth is that we live in a f***** up world. Sometimes the best to do is find the little bit of humor that can be extracted from a situation. The jokes are being made at Telles’ expense. This is how we mock and ridicule his pompous attitude.

Apparently Rob Telles really does plan to take the stand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DdIbmjPpS8&list=RDNS8DdIbmjPpS8&start_radio=1

Telles you are a fucking nit.

Here is my prediction of Rob’s “defense”:

(1) Robert Draskovich “RD” will throw spaghetti at the wall on evidentiary and procedural issues. Maybe something sticks. Probably not.
(2) Robert Telles “RT” will take the stand, in astronomical Kruger-Dunning arrogance, and “tell his side of the story.” This will include trying to relitigate the underlying accusations of bullying in the original German stories. RT will also try to bring up his crusade against the real estate firm. RT will get nuked on cross examination. RT will have no explanation for the DNA, for his wifes Denali on all the security videos, for having the same gait as the killer, for the chopped up shoes and hat at his house. But right now, RT really believes he will talk his way out of it. This is all going to happen against the advice of RD. This is why RD keeps giving such milquetoast statements about RT “telling his side of the story.”

RT will eventually blame everyone, including RD, for his conviction. RT will have a very public, very loud, very disturbing mental breakdown in court when the verdict is read. Refer back to the clasped hands and anguished face, looking to a closed heavens for intervention, at his bail hearing.

Case No. A-24-899510-J. Honestly, there are portions of it that appear to by copied and pasted from a client’s whining email. Examples: pp 10, lines 7-11, referring to a partner at a law firm as “same lady” and making the actual (IMO possibly sanctionable) statement “Suggestion that money was laundered through the LDS legal counsel”; referring to the temple as private club, etc.

Petitions for judicial review have a low likelihood of success even under the best conditions because of the deferential review standard. This feels like a money grab suit not being maintained on reasonable ground.
