It’s the Friday before Christmas and the least amount of daylight we’ll see all year. It is also one of the least productive days of the year, but who’s counting? Hopefully your office is closed on Monday and Tuesday so you can enjoy a nice holiday 4-day weekend. If not, feel free to commiserate in the comments below.
If any of you are struggling right now, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. If any of you are not struggling right now, consider reaching out to those people in your life who might be. A quick message or phone call goes a long way.

About a month ago, a commenter here recommended Shaily Jain MD. I want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Dr. Jain is great.
If you need help, please go out and get it. And, in the words of Abraham Lincoln, let's all try to be a little more excellent to each other.
Someone told me that all District Court Judges are up for election in 2020. True or baloney?
True
Denton, I heard is retiring.
Gonzalez, Ken Cory and Doug Smith I heard were all retiring.
Hello all,
What is a fair salary to ask for if you are an associate with one year's experience applying/interviewing with a small yet reputable plaintiff's firm here in Vegas? What are some good ways to negotiate salary? Should I throw out a number first to "anchor" the conversation, or should I let them throw out a number first? Any advice from seasoned attorneys is appreciated!

Are you already admitted? Are you currently employed? If you are already working for someone else and looking to jump ship this soon, I gotta be honest, it looks very bad.
In my experience, it doesn't matter what you do. They are going to offer what they're going to offer. But I hope they make you a great offer! And don't forget the work-life balance, whatever you do.
isn't 64 a little low????
65-ish, plus 5% of everything you settle and 20-25% of every case you personally generate.
@3:26,I think the job market is different nowadays and job hopping seems very common in Vegas especially in personal injury and insurance defense.
Common yes. If you want to chase $1000 more here and that the grass is always greener there, go ahead. If you want to make a name for yourself and be viewed as stable, job hopping is the road to nowhere. As someone who does the hiring for our firm, we see the stops of 8-12 months and know that you will not stay here more than 8-12 months. Unless your current employer is certifiably insane or an asshole (and we all know those and then will question why you went there in the first place), we are not going to want to put an investment into you knowing that you are just going to leave. Pass.
Job market is weird here. Attorneys hiring assistants with a "look" (i.e. receptionist) instead of experience. People job hop due to the demeanor of their boss (is the boss ethical, a screamer, demeaner). Still stick it out. You can't fix a messy resume.
maybe this person is a year long position after law school…..
The Nevada Supremes entered an order amending the CLE rules in ADKT 499. http://caseinfo.nvsupremecourt.us/document/view.do?csNameID=34375&csIID=34375&deLinkID=693323&sireDocumentNumber=18-0000*
Among other things, the amendments will require attorneys to file an annual affirmation with the CLE Board of the credits earned during the year. (See amendment to SCR 210, p. 5). Currently the rule relies on provider and self-reporting during the year and does not require the attorney to separately file anything at the end of the year as long as there are no errors with the attorney's transcript at the CLE Board. The amended rule will require a separate filing to restate all credits earned during the year. This is a step backwards and is nothing more than make work for both attorneys and the CLE Board. Was there some rampant problem with attorneys gaming the credit reporting system that more paperwork was required?
WTF. They are bound and determined to make everything as onerous and paperwork-intensive as possible I guess.
Welp, looks like Judge and Mr. Bickerson decided to celebrate Christmas in style.
