Impressive, I give you credit for that one.
This person obviously needs some help. Sad.
Why should we care about a judge's faith? Sincerely asking.
Regarding the question of why should we care about a judge's religion or faith, I offer the following. Humans are influenced by their beliefs, their faith. People may say, I will not be influenced by my religion in following and applying the law, but so often they are. I think litigants have the right to know the religion of the judge before whom they appear.
Because state judges aren't elected on qualifications. They're politicians. So they want their names in the news as much as possible. And to the extent possible, they want to come across as relatable because, just like everyone else, they have a family and a house and a religion and monthly payments. So this is just a way to get the person's name in the news and make the judge look relatable so when people fill out their ballot card in November, while they're quickly making their way down to the big ticket races that actually got them to vote, they see a name they remember and they instinctively fill in the circle next to the name.
5:12 — Nope.
Or in this case (s)elected based upon who her family is and her family's connections to the Governor.
"I think litigants have the right to know the religion of the judge before whom they appear." Yikes. Nothing could go wrong there. And if you did know, what would it tell you anyway? If the judge is Jewish, how observant? Will the judge have to disclose whether she is orthodox or reformed? If the judge is Mormon, will they have to disclose whether they are TBM, Jack or Sunstone? What about atheists? If they had a previous religious affiliation, will they have to disclose that? What if a judge just says she's "spiritual"? That doesn't say much, does she have to elaborate? If a judge is an evangelical does she have to disclose whether she accepts the young earth theory? Does a Catholic judge have to disclose whether they believe in a literal eucharist?
The Nevada Supreme Court has finally gotten wise to their website often not working as intended when trying to download documents. Their workaround: https://nvcourts.gov/Supreme/Documents/FAQs_for_public_site/
Jeez.
"Instead of us fixing our site, just allow unsecured content to be displayed. Fingers crossed nothing malicious happens."
Exactly. I was in disbelief when I read this.
WTH are they doing. "Hey if you want it bad enough, just drop your pants and cross your fingers."
