It’s not lost on us that there are few positive mentions of lawyers in the press. There are a lot of lawyers and firms out there who have done, and will continue to do, good things without getting any recognition for their efforts. Today’s post is dedicated to calling out people in our profession that are doing good things, or for pointing out what is working or even just to wax poetic about the things you like about being a lawyer in Las Vegas. Who made your nice list this year?
The lawyer who made my nice list this year is ME!
Check out Javad Khazaeli @javadesq on twitter, he’s going to town on the St. Louis police following the bar crash in the most hilarious way.
How about lawyers that are missed with their passing or their leaving the profession?
I miss Bill Terry.
I liked Stephen Stein, he was fun in a pita way
The best part of practicing in Nevada is no state income tax. That’s all I can think of.
I’m not going to name anyone by name, but only because anytime a compliment is paid like that here, the person often gets trashed.
I appreciate that the majority of my adversaries are reasonable and even enjoyable to battle with. I love it when I can battle hard against someone and there is not just collegiality, but a certain level of camaraderie. That’s fun.
The cases we get here are always interesting. This town attracts freaks, dreamers, grifters, criminals and big personalities. That makes for very interesting litigation. I love the spectacle of litigation here. It’s a never-ending parade of shit you could never imagine or make up in a billion years.
I love the food and entertainment options in this town. In both respects, the entire world literally comes to us. There’s no other place like it. Also love no income tax, no snow and my 3% mortgage. I love running home for a nooner whenever I feel like it.
Merry Christmas, Las Vegas!

I like the BK Hottie!
Send pics
The BK Hottie first came to fame in about 2010. The phones we carried had cameras but we were not in the habit of grabbing to snap a pic.
But, OH! how I wish that I had done it back then. Because I cannot remember her name for the life of me.
I have not had much occasion to file in the Ninth lately, but when i do i find the staff to be especially helpful and patient in walking me and my group through with the exactitudes on what we need to file and send in to them. (for their archaic practice of needing the nine binders bound a certain way with certain backing with certain colors etc)
The NV Supreme Court clerks are always very nice and helpful.
65 comments for the Airing of Grievances vs. 10 for this. Stay golden, legal community.
Maggie McLetchie makes my Nice List for doing her level best to keep Nevada’s records open. Joey Gilbert and the SOBs in Douglas County make my naughty list for blowing through All The Money trying to keep the sunshine out.
Several people make my nice list:
– Reasonable opposing counsel. Seriously, there’s enough shit that we all have to deal with that being able to pick up the phone and have a reasonable conversation with an adult is really nice. I appreciate that we can actually work shit out. So, thank you counsel.
– Staff. Opposing counsel’s staff and court staff. I really appreciate when you’re willing to take a few minutes to help me get the right information or answer, even though you probably deal with dumb attorneys all the time. Thanks!
– BlogMasters. This is a great place to discuss local stuff, I don’t know of anything else better. Sure we can all disagree on what we want to see here or where the lines for thwacking should be, but we wouldn’t have any of it without them. Thanks to LawDog and QuickDrawMcClaw!
