The U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada is repurposing the Media/Press room located in the Lloyd D. George courthouse. There are several items, including some old equipment, personal notes, and copies of old cases in the room that may belong to you. All items will be disposed or destroyed December 18, 2021. If you have interest in recovering any items, please contact Chief Deputy Clerk Vicente Angotti to schedule your visit no later than Friday December 17, 2021.
As someone who used to work in the old pressroom at the old Federal courthouse many years ago, I have to ask just why the press room is being repurposed?
Sadly, I don't think it's because the reporters are being given a better office. It's a sad state of affairs when the court pressroom isn't home base for a beat reporter from both the SUN and the RJ with radio and TV reporters using the facility on a regular basis depending on what court cases were being heard.
I have fond memories of Penny Stock Fraud King Myer Blinder attacking the Federal Prosecutor after his conviction and then collapsing in the courtroom. I raced to the pay phone in the hallway, dug for a dime, called the city desk and got my story in for the final edition.
Yes, I'm that old and grateful I left journalism before it imploded and found a career in law.
I also had a career in journalism before law. I would go back if it made sense financially.
Speaking of journalism – no matter what side of the political aisle – doesn't anyone vet these people? https://www.foxnews.com/media/cnn-producer-minors-sex-details
Wolfson, Lombardo, and the Judge. A credible movie plot about the old boy network of the police and prosecutor against a lone judge who dared to speak out. All three of the players were sorely lacking in judgment.
Agreed. The more I learn about Lombardo, the less likely I am to vote for him. He seems to have some real ethical issues that I don't see him overcoming.
No sexism in what happened to the two justice court judges. Love our legal community.
Watching Lombardo's commercials gives me all the information needed to know how to vote.
Regarding the article that non-major party voters are now the plurality in Nevada misses the biggest–and likely the driving–reason for the plurality. Voters are automatically registered as non-partisan when they get or renew their driver's license as the default option. The entire article is garbage. Journalism is dead.
Huh… speaking personally, the reason I changed to NP was to avoid the political party phone calls.
Good for you bro.
The reason I changed to NP was because both parties have lost their grasp on reality. GOP is the worst offender but damn the dems are doing their best to keep up.
The Judge Jennifer Dorsey ruling is faulty.
Why?
I have a problem with the ruling as well. The opinion iignores many facts raised in the complaint.
PACER upgrades and public access?? This is indeed great news:
On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee recommended that Congress pass the Open Courts Act of 2021 which would make the godforsaken f*cked-upon-beyond-all-recognition PACER system free to users. It’s a Christmas miracle, Johnny!
But wait. There’s more.
Per Courthouse News:
The legislation would also modernize PACER to streamline searches and update the program's technology, something that Durbin noted is already underway via the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
"The PACER system is not keeping pace with reality and technology. Its search function is torturous. There’s no uniformity in filings," [Committee Chairman, Dick] Durbin said.
To which we respond: there’s no way that’s a real quote. First, “torturous” is probably the most generous description of PACER we’ve heard in f*cking years. And, second, there isn’t a human being on the planet who can write or say a sentence about the f*cking technological cesspool that is PACER without an F-bomb in it. PACER is literally the only f*cking instance where technology is having a hard time keeping up with the law (versus the other way around).
“As someone who has had to use that search function — I’m a lawyer, this is something I was supposed to be doing in my job — if you are a normal person who is trying to access these records, it’s just about impossible," [Senator Josh] Hawley said.
PACER is literally so bad, it may very well be the one thing that f*cking Democrats and Republicans can actually agree upon.
Help – My first bonus is coming – boss calling us in one by one – do I open check in front of him or thank him and open later? Thanks!!
