DUI penalties are still a joke. Should be a two strike policy with an automatic 5 year suspension on your license. Take the bus, you bum.

I am a civil law attorney, but it seems to me that every DUI related fatality is caused by someone who has had multiple DUI convictions. So yes, tighten up.

Yeah that’s really going to mess up my Thanksgiving plans. Once the in-laws and the nieces and nephews show up, I like to take the edge off by throwing down a few bottles of merlot and then driving around for a while to sober up.

God bless you Dawson Parents. “Tuition for kindergarten through grade eight is $32,500, according to the website.”

I always laugh at the crazy wealthy people (often my own clients) who send their kids to these types of schools. When you meet the kids, the first thought that comes to my mind is often that the kid is so weird or useless that there is no private school at any price point that is going to make a difference. If I had a dollar for every millionaire who’s kid was going to be a “snowboarder” I too would send my kids to that type of school.

Not sure anyone is talking about this, but article says Randall Jones represents the victim (along with Chesnoff???)…..makes me think a civil suit against Dawson is forthcoming and that will not be cheap. Wonder how much insurance they have, will it cover the acts/omissions of the administration?

There is the school. There is the travel company that organizes these trips. Of course the torts occurred outside of Nevada.

A licensed attorney whose actions as a pro se plaintiff got him deemed a vexatious litigant here. He (based on this order) apparently doesn’t act any differently when he’s representing a client. Impressive to get the court of appeal to publish a decision about your conduct.

Isn’t T. Matthew Phillips [maybe past tense?] a sidekick to “He Who May Not Be Mentioned” on this blog? The Family Courts court-watcher. Steve San$%^&.

The civil cases in EJDC remain pending, and Bar Counsel’s petition to determine competency filed with NVSCT was referred to the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board for further proceedings. Presumably that remains pending as well.

I’ve seen this guy argue in court here when we were on the same calendar. Delusions of grandeur puts it mildly. He had the personality of Newman from Seinfeld, the legal acumen of Lionel Hutz and the certain confidence of Walter Sobchak.

Pretty useless chart without percentages comparing how many attorneys in NV are solo, government, etc. It could be that solos make up a far larger percentage of practioners so as to make their comparative complaints and referrals very small.

Or reflective of the fact that solos don’t have a support system (leading to missed deadlines/non-responsiveness) or poor training/echo chamber of bad ideas.

Exactly. Almost every ethical breach or purely incompetent lawyer I’ve come across has come from a solo. Sure, that’s only my experience, but this doesn’t surprise me.
