Musk certainly has it figured out.

The fines for ignoring an environmental regulation are cheaper than the cost of meeting the environmental regulation.

Even better, legally paying off elected officials who then waive fines and order agencies to ignore wrongdoing is even cheaper.

Why would he send his people to explain this loophole to the people of Nevada? He does not need or care about us.

$52 Million in tax money paid by LVCVA to fund these tunnels. LVCVA loves to spend public money chasing speculative ROI narratives that will never pencil out.

Its CEO helped sell $750 Million in public funds for Allegiant Stadium on the theory that it would magically pay for itself through tourism spillover. Now $52 Million into a single-lane, Tesla-only tunnel system that cannot plausibly move people at the scale required to support its own economics.

Musk does have “it” figured out and must love Nevada politicians for socializing risk with speculative future benefits, while privatizing upside. (Cue the Simpsons Monorail clip)

So the biolab that was found is also connected to the Reedley case in California? This is quite literally biowarfare happening right in front of our faces. Who knows what CCP agents do with this stuff. Literally had HIV samples, tuberculosis, dengue fever, malaria, etc. This stuff is probably happening all across the country.

I can’t figure out why this isn’t a bigger story. It should be national news.

the quick and dirty summary is that chinese nationals somehow acquired biological material and began hording it in multiple locations. Most of this materials contained infectious diseases. There were also about 1000 biologically mutated mice found in the Vegas house. China (specifically the CCP) is directing/supporting these actions. It’s still unclear exactly why they acquired all this bio material, but some speculate it is to prepare biological weapons and to undermine American infrastructure and economic activity. The CCP is extremely active in the US in terms of espionage. There’s been countless stories of chinese nationals attending American universities for the sole purpose of stealing and downloading as much information as possible, including patents, to take back to China.

The revised story says the guy here was French/Israeli and also had a ton of guns. They backed up the allegations of relation to the Chinese lab in California.

My instinct is that banning NDAs in settlements is worse for victims – it makes it harder to settle, or they have to settle for less because they can’t offer an NDA as consideration. But it’s better for society as a whole – it makes it harder to be a serial abuser because past victims can speak up. Is that right or am I missing something?

So which side did you land on? Allow NDA to encourage settlement or force a trial so that he/she is publicly known as an offender? Can’t be both.

Banning NDAs do not ban settlement and it does not force trial. There are plenty of reasons both sides would like to avoid putting a child sex abuse case before a jury. I’m not 10:08, but personally I can see both sides of the argument.

This is 10:08. I would lean toward banning them. We have a lot of evidence of the societal harm of NDAs’ facilitating serial abuse. But I’m by no means the expert, which is why I posed this question to the group. Very possible I’m missing something.

Only Hooge and Thunell put in for the DC 26 appointment. Goodey, who filed for the open seat, isn’t seeing the appointment. I’m so confused.

So will there be an appointment and then a special filing period that opens up again???

Goodey is smart. If she were appointed and then lost the election, she would have given up her Justice Court seat. This way, she will be a judge either way. I hope she wins the election though!

Can we hope Hooge gets it and then immediately loses election to Goodey – only to get him out of the Bar?

Hooge would be a nightmare if appointed to the bench and would immediately gain the ability to go twist firms’ arms for money because he could run as “Retain Judge Hooge.”
