Re cocaine and PD. I’m so sick of those judges on both sides of aisle freely labeling frivolous. Let the teams play and it will result in better law n society. There is an auto penalty for frivolity it’s called losing ur case. I’m for a libertarian argue ANYTHING. U think the Brit’s wouldn’t have argued the us cons was frivolous?

What the heck are you taking about? Attorney was high on cocaine at a hearing and “refused to express” remorse at his disciplinary hearing. Sounds like someone with an unresolved cocaine problem.

At the risk of thwacking, I must point out that 12:39 sounds like it was written by someone on cocaine.

2:04 haha I am so dumb. I misread the headline, did not read the article, and went crazy on a pet peeve. Sorry – I need to go get some rest!

Didn’t Freud and Churchill use cocaine?

“All of the business court cases currently assigned to Judge Nancy Allf (Dept. 27), shall be reassigned to Judge Joe Hardy (Dept. 15). Approximately 200 civil cases currently assigned to Judge Joe Hardy (Dept. 15), shall be reassigned to Dept. 27.” We tried Judge Hardy as a Business Court Judge and it was a disaster. Very bad assignment.

“The Eviction Appeals currently assigned to Judge Maria Gall (Dept. 9), shall be reassigned to Judge Anna Albertson (Dept. 11).” So we are going from Eviction Appeals being decided one week after they are filed to not being decided for months.

Yeah this is not great. I don’t know anything about Maria Gall, but hopefully she is better.

I hate to sound like a jerk but why do police get to shut down the city for their parades? Lots of people die at work. Roofing is more dangerous than policing.

Fair question. Bc policing affects communities so communities shut down. Roofing affects one family so community does not shut down

Because roofers can’t shut down the city for their parades, and cops can. On your dime, too.

“Judge Linda Marquis will relocate to the Family Division campus at Bonanza and Pecos, and Judge Bryce Duckworth will relocate to the Regional Justice Center.”

Marquis drew the short stick. Moving from downtown to the ghetto. I do family law and I prefer the few 3rd floor RJC trials to the 601 N. Pecos/Bonanza trials. It’s easier to get back to my safe Summerlin enclave from the RJC…

This is surprising news. I had always heard she moved to the RJC because she had been a criminal attorney and that’s where all her friends were. Surprised she’s going back to Pecos. I wonder if Duckworth is going to take over the guardianship calendar?

She is no longer doing guardianships.

Judge Marquis is the only judge I’ve appeared in front of who had a clear bias for counsel of one gender over the other. She’s actually a really great judge, but isn’t subtle about this particular issue.

How could you tell it was based on gender?

That is likely because she didn’t give into LACSN.

Why do criticisms of Amy Masten get deleted? The legal community should be able to make up their minds about her.

Not an admin but I have seen fair commentary on Judge Mastin on here and have seen comments that have gone off of the proverbial rails at times. Not sure which was the case in the comments that you discussed.

I’m not the original poster, but I’ve seen several criticisms of how she rules on DV matters because she has bizarre, misogynistic reasoning. Even when presented with unrefuted evidence, she is hostile to women seeking protection. This is a legitimate criticism, but the comments are removed.

I’ve seen the same re Mastin, Forsberg, and Throne. I suppose we could all start our own blogs.
