Some Days Are Diamonds

  • Looks like there is more going on at the palace of Eglet than just David Wall “retiring.” We got a tip that in addition to Wall, the firm is losing two partners, associates, and staff. Maybe Wall knew what was going on and got out while the getting was still good? Anyone got more details on the who and why?
  • Trying to stir up some publicity for the campaign for Attorney General, Adam Laxalt has pledged that he won’t accept political gifts because of his concern for potential conflicts of interest. Naturally, he also pointed out that his opponent, Ross Miller, has taken over $70,000 in such gifts. [RJ]
  • Attorney and Regent James Dean Leavitt, acting in his role as a UNLV stadium board member, proposed a county tax hike and increased contributions from UNLV students to pay for a stadium. [RJ]
  • “Scoring irregularities” may result in Nevada sending two representatives to the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant. [Las Vegas Sun]
  • The ABA Journal is working on its Blawg 100 list of best legal blogs and is accepting nominations until August 8, 2014. We can’t nominate ourselves, but if you feel like this blog or another legal blog you read (like those in our links section on the left) should be considered, take a minute and submit a nomination here

He must love working. Or maybe he genuinely believes he is fulfilling some higher calling.

Me? I'd have cashed in and retired years ago if I had 10% of what he has. As I see it, there's no sense working if you have more money than you and your kids could ever spend.

I agree. I'm always impressed with people like Eglet or Sam Lionel, who choose to work when they have more than enough money to retire. Me? I'll retire as early as possible. Maybe start a blog to pass the time…

You are forgetting the fact that it's not about the $$$ for Eglet – it's his ego, need to be top dog…

Right, which is why no one can stand to work with him. Hence the split every 3-4 years.

Me too. I heard he's been trying to split for a while. Working with Eglet wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Does Eglet even have any associates now?
