Horses
Forest Service: horses outside of “designated areas” -must be removed. (govt speech for destroyed).
Typical of Federal government. I am sure the horses were given notice of the boundaries of their “designated areas” which they knowingly violated.

They just sell the horses (govt speech for sell).

They do, and most wind up being slaughtered. This is well documented and reported.

Who cares? They are an invasive species. No one gets worked up about killing carp at lake mead, why do we care about horses? Put your romanticism aside and take care of the problem.

It’s good to know that this is the kind of equivalency some people are working with.

Did that person intentionally misrepresent the holding of the case in their opposition? No, they’re just the kind of person that thinks carp infestation and wild horses are functional equivalents.

Don’t ever be shy of sharing your thinking. It’s informative.

As far as their effect on the environment, are they that different?

Clearly you are not well informed on the topic. Wild horses are a pest just like carp are. They trample everything and outcompete native species for grazing land. They reproduce like crazy. The only reason we treat them different then any other invasive species is that we have romantic feelings about wild horses.

Horse hater is correct. We just love horses, so we want them treated differently. They are majestic animals, but as horse hater indicated they are an invasive species.

I get that they are invasive. I’ve followed this issue pretty closely because it’s fascinating to me, and it seems to create some strange bedfellows on each side of the argument. I don’t claim to have answers.

But it’s just way, way different than carp. And that’s not romanticism.

No…they compete with cattle grazing. Wealthy ranchers don’t like them because of that so they lobby to have them rounded up and slaughtered. Protecting native species has nothing to do with it.

Deer, elk, and moose hunters don’t like the wild horses either. But the hunters also don’t like all the cattle that are also roaming through (and drastically altering) what are supposed to be wilderness areas.

Other than dusting off the All Net Arena plans, marking through the name and backers, and writing the new name and their names on them – are they doing anything else for the ‘tallest resort anchored by a basketball stadium” different than the All Net Arena that we pretty much knew would never come to fruition anyway?

Only thing that they are doing differently is keeping Jackie Robinson’s name off of this project. They have no funding.

The only NBA arena that has any shot of happening is the one down at blue diamond and las vegas boulevard. It has a real group with real funds behind it. I suspect a couple years the team expands to las vegas and back to seattle and that arena gets built. The fenway with labron probably ends up owning the team.
