The Sun really has nobody but itself to blame here. For years, they published garbage in print and kept back what little original content they created behind an online paywall. I wish it were otherwise, but the Sun has slowly been killing the Sun. I wonder what percentage of current residence is even aware of its existence.
I used to work for the SUN around 1990 or so. Even before the JOA, I would often run into people who didn’t know it existed or were surprised it was still around.

I enjoy how savage that RJ article is. I guess I’m old-school but I think newspapermen should generally be jerks who live by their mission to “afflict the comfortable.” If you’re worried you’re not going to be invited to the next cocktail party, you’re probably not digging as much dirt as you should.
It is entertaining to read, but it also drives people to the Sun to see their response. The Sun appears to be in the middle of a death rattle, so maybe that doesn’t matter.
“Afflict the comfortable” in this case reads like Glenn Cook is the Adelsons’ personal Pam Bondi….except that metaphor no longer applies. Personal Todd Blanche? This is one of those cases where deciding which side is more detestable and which house deserves the pox more is difficult to ascertain.

I know, I know. Its just an endorsement but this is problematic to me. From Judge Kishner:
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Clark County Investigators Association—the professionals who work every day to uncover the truth and uphold justice. (District Attorney Logo). Their support means a great deal, because they understand firsthand the importance of facts, evidence, and sound judgment in our courts. As I continue serving in Nevada’s Complex Business Court, I remain committed to fairness, integrity, and getting it right—every time. Thank you for your trust and confidence. I’m proud to stand with those who put facts first.”
So when these people appear in your court with the District Attorneys, you believe them when they testify because law enforcement investigators automatically only testify as to facts. Yeah I know that is civil and Business Court. But affirming that a certain class of witnesses who appear on one side of cases only put out facts is bothersome. Imagine if the endorsement was “Plaintiff’s Construction Defect Experts Association” or the “Defense Committee of IME Doctors”.
So her opponent is a nightmare of a candidate. Truly running on the “Not Kishner” platform. But her opponent does have Dave Thomas (Kishner has Letizia). Thomas’s polling numbers have McLeod polling 10 points ahead just on anti-Kishner/RJ press. She is not a strong candidate but she is going to be able to get a big push from trotting the RJ out.
The newspaper does not carry as much weight as it once did. Kishner is first on the ballot. Kishner ran a tough campaign against Dabney and won. Her opponent does not make a good appearance. Kishner is the incumbent. Voters don’t necessarily educate themselves about judicial candidates and get down in the weeds as if they are in the legal system. Kishner will run a well financed campaign. Her opponent will not. This does not mean it is hopeless for her opponent. Hardly. She has a chance. If Kishner loses she can not get Senior Judge status. So she will fight like heck to keep her seat. In spite of her unpopularity, Kishner does have support in the legal community with the old guard. Her opponent does not.

Happy Spring Holiday! May you have all plagues pass over you this weekend, may you go hard as bunnies this weekend and find the inspiration after that to rise Monday morning from the dead.
Here’s a rundown of other notable holidays this week:
April 5 – National Deep Dish Pizza Day
April 6 – National Library Day
April 7 – National Beer Day
April 8 – International Be Kind to Lawyers Day
April 9 – National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day
April 10 – National Youth HIV and AIDS Awareness Day
April 11 – National Clean Up Your Pantry Day
So let’s just be a little happier about all the things we have to celebrate, okay?

Hopefully voters toss her out.
Her opponent does not appear to be a strong or well-funded candidate at this point.
She has dozens of supporters, Michael.
Judge Kishner is sponsored by Eglet, Dimopoulos, Claggett, etc. All the big hitters. She is very likely going to have an easy time in the primary.
Kishner has legacy Nevada name and Vegas money behind her. But she completely underestimated how many bridges she burned.
