For those wondering about the Faughnan case, the Complaint alleges he told DETR “[c]ourts are closed and there are no clients because of COVID-19,”
with the intent to permanently deprive the state of Nevada of those benefits. LVJC Case 21-CR-047793.

I will say that the part of the Faughnan docket that made me feel better is that the docket shows Kerry at 4 bills. And I thought COVID had been tough on me.

DETR owed valid claimants millions. Appeals are taking over 2 years. They hold appeals without notice. They issue decisions and reverse them after issued. Have a client who they are "auditing" for a couple hundred dollars for reported income when they are owed over 10k. Completely unethical.

I'm not sure what to make of Faughnen's statement quoted above. Obviously courts were not closed, but if his clients dried up due to Covid, where's the fraud?

A lot of law firms slowed down during the COVID lock downs, but we kept the doors open and the lights on. Faughnan needs to get crucified for this. Legit claims were getting backlogged and families were really hurting and that guy was actively representing people and making money while ripping off the state. Zero sympathy. I hope the Bar goes after him too. Like it or not, we all get painted with the same brush and this looks so bad.

Kerry was always decent to deal with in my limited experience with him. “Courts are closed” is not an accurate statement except insofar as trials were concerned, but if he can establish that the benefits were justified based on the impact to his business then this doesn’t seem to me like something that should be pushed very hard by the AG.

Dear 2:10 – You're application for Bar Counsel has been accepted. Because you fit the profile so well you have been skipped to the head of the line usually reserved for relatives of the BOG. On a side note, your autographed photo of Vasily Blokhin is ready for your pickup.

2:10, didn't Hutchinson & Steffan take out a huge amount of Covid relief money, those PPE loans or whatever they were called? How is that any different than what Kerry Faughnen possibly did or didn't do?

3:48 here, to clarify, different only in the sense of different programs. But both (unemployment and the Covid loans) were for those who lost money due to Covid.

4:07, exactly. That's more in the realm of what an AG should do. At a minimum, open an investigation into how 30,000 people were able to fraudulently obtain $471M and maybe he can earn his pathetic bragging rights.

I think Kerry is a nice guy also. And I do not take anything that AG or DA say at face value. But if he took close to $100,000 and claimed that he was "unemployed" when a simple Odyssey search shows his cases moving forward and him participating , well then I cannot help him. He was not unemployed.

Where are you getting $100,000 from? How long does one need to stay on unemployment to earn that much?

Does anyone else question DETR's fault in this? It let almost a half billion dollars get fraudulently issued? Was there zero checking on benefits? And, Aron Ford thinks he's a hero for going after 3 people out of 30k? The incompetence of the government astounds me, while at the same time it doesn't.

I personally know Kerry, For those that have had perspective and positive comments I’m sure you are all honorable people and not making your narrative to suit the allegations. For those that choose to insult or crucify him with your words clearly aren’t educated and know the facts. The Faughnan family have had many hardships during the past couple years. Kerry is an honest man and if the DA wants to target him I have no doubt with evidence Kerry will prevail. Always remember only one person can judge. If your not supporting him then stand down.

No one needs to “stand down” if they are not supporting some you happen to like and defend. People are saying see what the evidence shows. Whether a person had hardships or not is irrelevant to whether one is entitled to unemployment benefits.
