A while back the State Bar sent out a survey about the possibility of reciprocity with other jurisdictions. Has anyone heard anything else about that issue?
A really bad idea for Nevada. Who wants someone to practice here that took an easier bar exam elsewhere and could not pass ours? We have enough sub-par practioners now, not to mention the carpet baggers that would flood the state.
– Of course, if you are considering moving to another state, reciprocity might appeal to avoid another exam.
Easier than our two day open book exam?
Does the bar do a break down of who failed the exam? Where they are from and what school they went to?
Boyd 13 here so naturally I felt like anyone with a pulse could have passed the Nevada bar exam. I always thought the low pass rate was because of all the TTT and unaccredited schools out of CA pumping out students with LSAT scores in the 140s/150s driving the number down.
You can't sit for the NV Bar exam with an unaccredited JD
The rare-as-hen's-teeth example of a Boyd 13 not knowing of which they speak?! Presuming, even?!? Hmmm. Makes me think that perhaps 12:35 is not really a Boyd 13 after all….
Reciprocity and Bar Exam-11:02AM to 12:37PM. Of course reciprocity is a bad idea. Boyd Dean is pushing reciprocity and diploma privileges for Boyd. We are flooded now with out of town lawyers trying to take our work. 12:37PM–you might be able to sit for the bar exam with an unaccredited school. You have to go to Functional Equivalency. It has been used by old Western States grads who are usually members of the California Bar who seek to get licensed here. The old law schools were not ABA. Some seek to take the bar in Nevada after failing the California Bar repeatedly. Don't know if they still have this option available. I hope they go back to a traditional bar exam with the MBE and in person. That should bring back some sense to it.
12:35PM-Admissions and the Board of Bar Examiners does does do a breakdown but they don't circulate. Think includes male/female/repeaters/first time takers and law schools.
A friend needs a tenant lawyer. Any recommendations? Thank you.
. . . . "much less people on the road, much less claims, and much less accidents,” said Robert Eglet, senior partner at Eglet Adams.
"Fewer" not "much less."
Pet peeve of mine too! I'm not alone! Thank you 1:16.
Definitely fewer! Ugh!
PLLC or LLC for law practice or medical practice? Seems like it should always be PLLC for issues with fee splitting, unauthorized practice (corporate practice of medicine). Also seems like this is not followed strictly, why is that?
My tranny (who is really good) told me to form a PLLC, so I did. No idea why. I just follow direction from those who know.
Please explain to me why my friend Jas been waiting for DETR benefits since July, but DETR is helping people and paying new players and people waiting a week after already paid? WTF, Barbara Buckley.
Buckley is not in charge anymore. Pick someone else to blame.
She was in charge during that time. She is culpable.
My wife (a Controller for a midsize Construction co) received a DETR notice in April that someone filed UE benefits request in her name. She IMMEDIATELY faxed and mailed the report back to Carson City. She just received a 2020 DETR 1099 for $27,000. DETR is even more incompetent than Sisolak. What a shit show. Good thing we have good CPAs.
We rec'd a 2020 DETR 1099 for someone in the chain of title on our house who last lived there 15 years ago and also sent it on to DETR to report this.
Payees, excuse typos
