Rarely, if ever, have I said this, but good on the Nevada Assembly. May no one ever again do something like that to a dog.

What’s going on with some of these defense firms. I’m on my third or fourth attorney in cases that are maybe 2 years old. Not just linked to one or two places either.
What is going on with some of these Plaintiffs’ firms? I have a case I have one of the defendants on that (dont tell Plaintiff) probably boards in eight figures and the attorney from plaintiffs’ firm just disappeared. Rumor is that the partner got greedy and kicked the attorney out before she could get paid on the case. Not the only file this has happened on.
There is definitely a miserable meatball in town that fits this shoe, metabolic syndrome and all.

Sixth highest paid Clark County employee is a public defender, according to the RJ: “6. Darin Imlay, public defender. Total pay $418,100, including a $262,400 cash-out, $26,800 in longevity pay and $56,600 in severance. Total benefits $36,700. Total pay and benefits: $454,700.”
Cashed out 30 years of vacation. That’s often where you get these huge on-paper “salaries.” My only issue is if this is used in the PERS formula to pension spike. That was a problem in California until the Legislature fixed it during the financial crisis – not sure how Nevada PERS handles it.
Wow, I looked Darin Imlay up. Sure enough, 30 years at the public defender. If that is a cash-out of vacation and severance it is well-earned in my opinion. Thank you for your service Darin!
I think it may have changed but essentially the unused vacation time just rolls over. So three weeks pto a year if he used a week, two roll over and so on. I think newer employees there is a cap (use it or lose it) on rolling over but he probably grandfather in no cap.
There’s also a buyout for unused sick leave. It’s not hour for hour, but there’s a formula and it depends on the year you started. I believe vacation leave capped at 240 hours, but with a 4-day workweek and decades of time in the system, it’s not hard to get to the max and many employees would sell back extra vacation time each year. I don’t believe that severance and sell backs count for PERS.
I’m not sure about overtime (which would not apply to attorneys) and PERS – the fire department and CCDC have long had outrageous payouts on overtime, but incompetent County management has let the abuse go on for decades.
The Eglet Firm has a lot of excellent attorneys and staff. They are overworked and given unrealistic expectations, except for the favorites who seemingly get away with anything. They are underappreciated and undervalued while being expected to be forever grateful to work amongst crystal chandeliers and taken on elaborate trips. Things will only get worse now that it’s only the Eglets in charge because they won’t have any other partners to balance them.
They recently lost at least 4 attorneys over the course of a month. Something must be happening there. I heard it is a mill also. I heard the case load is at least 100+ lit cases. I also know that they supposedly don’t pay referral fees.

Ballou has all civil! Oh God.
Hall has split criminal. Oh God.
Gall have a criminal docket is no concern in the slightest. Ballou being allowed in the courthouse let alone to use the back elevators scares the shit out of me
Wendover is one of the saddest places in Nevada. It only exists because of Utah’s repressive laws.
Nothing more Nevada than that.

Not the first time a partner fired an attorney in lieu of paying well earned bonus/cut on case.
Does the firm go by the initials GC?

Re: Imlay -Well earned?.
Do you really believe somebody working for the government did not take vacation days – for 30 years?

And have you ever heard of this guy? A leader in criminal defense? Nope. This is how the criminal justice system is bought off.
Are you in criminal defense? He’s been leading the Clark County PD’s office for the last six and a half years, since Phil Kohn retired.

What’s happening at Dimopoulous Law? Looks like a lot of attorneys left recently.
Had to trim back to be able to afford an ad on this blog.
And Eglet’s building.
His website now shows him sitting in Eglet’s conference room
His website shows him sitting in his conference room since he bought it.
Hey it looks like Robert Adams did not retire. He joined up with Art Ham and opened an office on Durango near the Spanish Hills home of Adams.

Step down from
the marble palace.
The marble palace is just a pretty facade for a miserable place.
Looks like their only associate is daughter of Adams.
“Retire” is a nicer word for “leaving firm and serving non-compete.”
Attorneys can’t have non-competes.
Usually means, “I did not get my fair cut”.
Something obviously happened and it is always about money.
Think Dennis Prince. They changed the locks on him.
Other partners went along with it.
Looks like Joseph J. Troiano and Jack Degree returned to Eglet
So Eglet pocketed millions and is now a tenant.
It’s like when the Strip casinos sell the land to a REIT who then leases it back.
They seem to have hired a lot of new people and lost a lot of their more established team.
This comment was about Dimopoulous Law.
Indeed, so is the comment you’ve commented on.
Has anybody here worked at Dimopoulos? Can anyone comment on the culture over there?
How about Eglet Adams? Comments?

Judge Gall is awesome.
