The article on road closures downtown for LiB is laughable. Downtown streets have been a shit show for months due to road construction. There is a music festival? Who will even notice?
Was it actually a conflict? just because they represented you client previously doesn't mean its a conflict. you have to show that they gained information during that representation which would prejudice your client. If I represent someone in a dispute with their neighbor about a broken fence, likely nothing preventing me from representing someone else against them in a PI case. Unless the former client can point to something specific. To be fair, I probably wouldn't represent someone in any aspect against a former client, but what people often think are conflicts are often not.
1. Concurrent conflict of interest – can't represent any entity that will be going against any existing PRESENT client of yours that has an ongoing legal matter.
2. Successive conflict of interest – can't represent any entity that will be going against a former client of yours in a matter in which you represented the former client in that same matter.
I think you can get waivers for conflict of interest in either of these, but highly unlikely you would.

Yeah, the roads downtown have been absolute shit for the last 1-2 years.
At least when they do major construction in California, most of the time, they try to limit the lane closures to 3rd shift when few people are out.
OBC allowed former attorney to be opposing counsel to my client in the same case. Swear, attorney was at a big firm. So did Betsey Gonzalez.

"in the same case"
I remember conflicts like this:
1. Concurrent conflict of interest – can't represent any entity that will be going against any existing PRESENT client of yours that has an ongoing legal matter.
2. Successive conflict of interest – can't represent any entity that will be going against a former client of yours in a matter in which you represented the former client in that same matter.

Yes, that is a direct conflict. It never should have been allowed.
