Sorry for the week off between posts. I’ve been busy catching up on all the crap that I put off during the holidays so I haven’t had much time for blogging. It’s also been a slow week or two for legal news, although I heard that Axl Rose performed jury duty last week.
On a different topic, I’m guessing I’m not the only one working on MLK day? (Even though I’m taking a break to put up this post). I tried to convince my boss that it would be racist if we worked today. He didn’t buy it.
And on another different topic, one of our commenters asked whether there’s been any moving and shaking in the legal job market now that the new year has hit.
I noticed the City of North Las Vegas is hiring for “Deputy City Attorney II” (I didn’t see the first Deputy City Attorney, I heard it was a bomb at the box office. LAME JOKE!). The job requires “Five years minimum experience in general civil litigation, with an emphasis on employment law and federal civil rights exposure.”
For those of you with less experience who want to move to the beautiful metropolis of Reno, Robertson and Benevento is hiring an associate with 0-2 years experience, but they only want candidates who graduated in the top 25%. (PICKY!)
And Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is looking for a real estate associate, but I’m guessing they’re even more picky than Robertson and Benevento.
Does anybody have any tips on which firms are hiring and firing? For those of you with the day off today, what are you doing with your time off?

There's a Boyd grad at Kellogg Huber, holy shit.
I thought you could only get a job there if you were magna or better at a top school and then did a big time clerkship.
Well I just wasted 15 minutes looking up Kellog Huber (I'd never heard of it). Apparently they pay $180,000 to first year associates and signing bonuses of $100k if you clerked for a federal appeals court and $200k for a Supreme Court clerkship. The Boyd grad apparently clerked for the 9th circuit.
My favorite part is that his profile says he graduated from the "University of Nevada." No mention of "Las Vegas" in there. I guess they're too good for sin city.
Must have known someone .
Certainly a (slightly tainted) feather in Boyd's cap.

Does anyone know this guy?
I know him. He was on law review and was top of his class. Graduated in either 2002 or 2003. Rumor had it that while married, he had an ongoing affair with another married law school student. His marriage remained in tact, hers was a different story.
Well I don't know about any of the rumors, but this is a baller job. People at Yale line up for a spot at Kellogg Huber. Compare him to every other associate there — they all went to much higher ranked schools. This is a huge victory for Boyd.
