RJ/Sun
This would be interesting if either was actually printing reading material. I really really want print journalism to stay in Las Vegas and I understand the circulation issues.
But most of the content is either verbose or inconsequential. Even the sports section sucks. I don't have a solution, and for what its worth, I subscribe to the RJ but read the WSJ.

I am no fan of Sheldon Adelson. I don't care for the RJ's politics. I do subscribe to the printed version of both papers (they come together). But I have to say that the RJ is 100% right about the print edition of the Sun. It's an intentional joke. It's nothing but an occasional article by the Sun and the rest of the content is stale New York Times articles. This is done, I assume, to spite the RJ and to save the Sun's valuable content for their online subscribers. Brian Greenspun strikes me as a stereotypical guy who inherited a business as opposed to building it from the ground-up.

I like the RJ print edition. For a city our size, we get a lot out of it. Aside from the nonsense pro-Trump rhetoric (like Debra J. Saunders' front page "analysis"), it's a good paper. It's certainly better than the police blotter TV news in this town.

This town would lose absolutely nothing if the Sun print edition ceased to exist because the Sun print edition is already nothing.

ARM has announced that Hon. Trevor L. Atkin (Ret.) "has joined ARM's distinguished panel of neutrals and is now available to serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master and private judge." What's the word on the other cast-offs?

Advanced Resolution Management – Trevor was an exceptional lawyer and judge. No reason to think he won't also be a solid mediator. It is a damned shame he wasn't re-elected; so few of the people willing to take the bench have his level of civil experience and acumen. The Clark County bench really took a big step backward in this election.

Assuming no voter fraud. There's no way he lost.

As Trump demonstrated, you can't win a rigged election.

I found a very interesting statistic. Did you know a Republican has won the popular vote only once in the last 32 years?

Jackie is a great mediator. I imagine that Togliatti is good too (wonder if she will be re-nominated – she should be). Trevor should do well. No familiarity with the others, but people seem to like Nancy Saitta.

Wasn't fond of Glass as a judge, but I really like her as a mediator.

The thing I really appreciate about Jackie Glass is that if your case looks like it's at an impasse at the end of your session, she doesn't just collect her fee and wash her hands of you. She will keep working over the phone for days or even weeks to try and work something out. I've settled more than one case with her this way.

I second (or third by now) what was said re. Judge Glass — I actually never had her as a judge, but based on her campaign against Sobel, and her run at TV, I was hesitant to use her to mediate But she was great. It was a tough case with some serious bad blood among counsel. She was able to interject some creativity and got the case done after a very long day. I was very pleased with her.

I had a mediation at ARM last year for the first time. It's in the southwest part of town and on the second floor so you have to take an elevator to get there, but fairly decent facilities for mediation. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again if the opportunity arose. Naturally, your mileage with the neutrals is going to vary depending on the case and them.

There is one particular department that is taking 5-6 weeks from uploading to approve orders. This is simply unacceptable.

Call them out. I'll do the opposite here and give props to Judge Denton's chamber. Recently uploaded a proposed order and it was issued within hours.

Dept. 8 has no knowledge of the rules, may need the drinking hotline number, and a bad temper. Should be a fun year.

Trespassing on federal land, breaking windows, shooting someone, and committing treason is a peaceful protest? This veteran tells you to go fuck yourself, Trumper.
