My sentiments exactly.
Multiple causes for the fall. Inflation, a weakened military, decadence and widespread welfare.
Our lesson? Consider that when more than half of a population depends on the government for support (takers) and less than half the population have a stake or an interest in the welfare of the whole, then the takers majority will always vote in their own self interest for more.
Currently something like 45% of the population pays no income tax. Many receive large government subsidies in the form of refundable tax credits, welfare, Medicaid, etc.
So based on the foregoing, you should be able to predict our future.
Trump paid less in taxes than my dog walker. Amazon? Maybe pay a fair share first, then complain how my dog walker's larger share of the pie is being spent.
Yes, the number of seniors collecting their social security pittance should absolutely either be paying taxes or have all their welfare withheld.

Hey 1:16. I've heard that 45% figure before too. Do you know how it's comprised?
11 percent of those age 25-55 don't pay federal income tax while more than 80 percent of those age 75 or older are non-payers. So…seems to me like the country's doing OK. A few deadbeats, a few disabled who can't work, a few in between jobs, but by and large the working age population pays taxes.

The top 1% of earners, generally those with incomes somewhere above $600,000, pay 47% of all individual income tax.
The top 50% of earners paid 97% of all income tax.
The bottom half paid only 3%.
Sure, each person and entity pays their fair share. You ever stop to think maybe incomes over $600,000 would pay less if Amazon paid its fair share, or Trump paid his fair share?

People and companies do not get to decide to NOT pay their "fair share" as defined by the legislators and incorporated into the Internal Revenue Code.
Corporate (C-Corp) income is taxed TWICE. Once at the corporate level on income remaining after expenses, such as paying wages or building a new factory or hotel, which will employ more people. (By the way, the proposed Biden tax revision will make our corporate tax rate one of the highest in the world.)
Corporate net income is distributed to shareholders, which may be you directly or to you indirectly if you have PERS, a 401k, mutual fund, etc.) It is taxed again at this level as personal income to the individual on the annual 1040.

Why is everyone so excited about the mostly peaceful protests in DC?
Fuck you. These are NOT peaceful protests. There are full scale riots going on right now in DC and the AP has published photos with Capitol police that have barricaded the House chamber, showing them aiming their guns at protestors that are out in the hallway after the protestors have smashed parts of the opaque covering on the doors between the Chamber and the hallway outside.

Well the woman who was shot died, so, this does not meet most people's definition of peaceful.
I suspect that we are going to find out that the woman who was shot was one of the earliest protestors through and died at hands of an L/E officer.
She was shot by a LEO or secret service… She was trying to climb through a broken window that led to a barricaded area.

Any help appreciated: If spouse A signs a Quitclaim to spouse B re a house, does that eliminate any future interest spouse A may have in the house due to making payments, etc. (Malmquist case)? I am not trying to offload my legal research but a colleague thought he heard of a case on point but couldn't remember the name. Anyone know the name of the case? Thank you.

Thank you – I assume that is the WestLaw/Lexus syntax but being a poor solo doing a Pro Bono case I don't have Westlaw as I usually only take cases where I know the law. If no one knows the case name, I will try that in the NSB free system though. Thank you.

They promoted the riots. They encourage doxing. They let Genie out of the bottle when the refused to enforce law, refused to arrest criminals or adopted "catch and release" polices. Washington DC today is the child of Trump and grandchild of the Democrats.

Got me. Team Biden is too broad. I'll list a few blue leader by name: Maxine Waters, AOC, Gov Cuomo, Mayor DeBlasio, Steve Sisolak, Laurie Lightfoot, Ted Wheeler, Jacob Frey, etc. We can list similar enablers on the right too (Ted Cruz, etc.) My point is that failed leadership allowed this to start last spring and we are where we are because of failed leadership.

Jay Young! I don't even like him and can concede he would be excellent. He can bring his incredible voice into use by making short videos on common discovery disputes, set to good music.
I like Jay Young personally, but he's a total A as opposing counsel. I'm not sure what version we'd get with him, so I can't say either way whether I think he'd be good. Have no idea who the other finalist is, but based on the new world order in which we live, my bet is on her getting the appointment.

I realize that a lot of the fairly recent political type comments are coming from Voldemort & Co, but I'm fed up with it. What went on in DC yesterday is due to exactly that kind of racist, nationalist BS that gets amplified over social media. It needs called out and squashed every time.
