Continuing on Judge Harter: I clerked there with another Judge and later appeared in his Court countless times, won some, lost some, but he always struck me as someone who tried to do what was legal and right. I have no more words except a sadness for his family. RIP Judge.

I always liked Judge Harter. Agree with previous posts that he always tried to do what was legal and right. I never got the impression that he particularly favored any particular attorney. He seemed to take a more nuanced and considered approach to the law than most of his colleagues on the bench. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his loved ones. What a sad time for them.

Joe Gloria, Clark County Registrar of Voters just did a press conference on election status and ballots. There are 5500 provisional ballots that need to be reviewed. There are 50,000 additional ballots that need to be counted. Then there are mail in ballots that will be received and counted on Saturday. Unknown number. So I wonder if this will affect election results particularly with some of the judicial races that were close. Obviously there are statewide races that will be affected like Senator and Governor. It ain't over till its over.
There have been no updated vote totals since Tuesday. They didn't count a single vote yesterday? Or today? And people wonder why some may think some things are fishy. Nevada is a national embarrassment.
Accurate at the time of the post. No increased vote totals Wed? Why couldn't they count the stop off ballots on Wed? Or mail-in votes received on Wed? No more vote totals until Thursday night? What an embarrassment.
I was highly impressed with Patty Lee and Tierra Jones. Both bring different strengths. Before watching Jones' interview I wasn't convinced her trial court judge experience would be a huge advantage bit, if anything, it made her look very, very comfortable in a future role as a justice. My concern (maybe not a concern as much as an unknown) is her writing style and ability to draft well-written opinions. As a practitioner, I assume Lee will have very good writing. I was honestly so impressed with both of them. I'd like to see Jones have a little more experience, I think Lee's 20 years gives her the edge, and I'd hate to lose Jones as a district court judge. I'd love to see Lee get it, but Jones join in the future. That would be my choice. But how comfortable Jones came across, along with her northern Nevada ties, I think she'll get it. Plus, I'd like to see Lee get the appointment to give her an edge in a future campaign, whereas Jones can run at a later date and is likely to win an election. I hope it goes to Lee, but I wouldn't be disappointed with either one. I give credit to everyone who applied though, great jobs all around. (And, did anyone notice how relieved Stern seemed to be that Ford is likely to win reelection? I wonder what her answer would have been to the question of what she'll do if she doesn't get the appointment if Chattah was ahead, funny to think about).
Jones would be an intellectual lightweight on the Nevada Supreme Court. After watching the interviews perhaps one of the least qualified. I expect Patty to get it.

Check again.

There was updated votes on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
None on Wed
Is anyone else watching the Supreme Court applicant interviews? Any thoughts?
Really wasn't expecting the "If you could describe your judicial philosophy as a boy band, which would you choose?' question.
Is there a link to watch online?
huh?

I watched on the Nevada Supreme Court's youtube page. The finalists are Scott Freeman, Tierra Jones, and Patricia Lee.
Tierra Jones is my pick.
Who asked that or is it a joke?
The live stream was on the NSC YouTube and last I checked it was still up

Most lawyers (hopefully) can present themselves well in an interview when a lot is on the line for them.
If you want to know what Jones is really like, go watch her in court daily where she takes glee in bullying younger attorneys and females.

I doubt very highly that our current Democratic Governor would appoint a member of the Independent American Party to the Nevada Supreme court.
Good luck to anyone waiting for CA bar exam results today!
(and congrats if you already saw yours in the developer console) 🙂
We don't care. This is a NV blog.
Lots of NV based attorneys are licensed in CA, and lots more are thinking about it, going for it, etc.
