It’e been a stressful year and the holidays are approaching (which are stressful even in years that aren’t like 2020). What are you doing to take care of yourself and manage the stress?
I started therapy a month ago. It was hard to get in and slightly inconvenient, but I realized I'm not going to get through this year without help. Contemplating whether to use substances to help, but have that same fear so many others do about the stigma. Not even really comfortable trying MMJ if that would help because I'm such a rule-follower. I will get through it and do what I have to, but wanted to let others know you're not alone.
12:53: I agree with 9:41 about pot, and being a rigid rule-follower. MMJ is NOT legal here. Federal law still prohibits possession, use, sale. Some of us do not willingly violate federal law, even if it is not being enforced.
1:49 sorry but your comment is nonsensical. The use, possession and sale of MJ within the State of Nevada is indeed legal pursuant to state law. The State of Nevada is exercising its police power. There is no federal police power as it was reserved to the states under the Tenth Amendment. The CSA is not a preemptive statute so its not going to trump Nevada law. The CSA isn't being enforced anyway because the federal government doesn't have the massive police force necessary to do this. The feds can't require state and local law enforcement to enforce federal law because of the anti commandeering rule amongst other things.
Lots of lawyers use MMJ. There's definitely still a stigma, but after being at my current office for a while I learned most lawyers use it. It's better/safer than alcohol anyways.
How can anyone indulge in MMJ and drive? Impairment. How does that work?? With alcohol you know when it is out of your system. Not true with mmj. Also, if you are smoking it–how is smoking affecting your body. Since when is inhaling smoke healthy? Or even medicine?
With all due respect 2:45, your post show a reefer madness level of information. Your argument that MMJ causes greater issues with impairment in driving than with alcohol is not true. Your argument that people are more aware of impairment with alcohol is not true. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2722956/); (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29117206/). You are correct that smoking anything has side effects (as do many other drug delivery mechanisms). However smoking is not the only method of delivery of THC. I personally do not care for THC; however I do care for science. Your descriptions and assumption are incorrect.

These are stressful times. Can attorneys please be nice to other attorneys? We are in the same profession. Be a human being. I reached out to "friend" concerning an issue, and he could not rush me off the phone fast enough. I would not treat a friend like that.
" I reached out to "friend" concerning an issue, and he could not rush me off the phone fast enough. I would not treat a friend like that." Perhaps take a second to practice what you preach. I am sorry that you were having an issue. Perhaps your friend was also having an issue, in the middle of a crisis or feeling like the world is coming down on them. Perhaps them rushing you off of the telephone was their way of averting a complete breakdown on the telephone.
I agree, a friend should not treat you that way. I am sorry you are going through a difficult time. If your friend was not in a position to chat, then they could've said that before ending the call, or you could give them the benefit of the doubt. Hope everything works out.

I quit watching the news, if something important enough to concern me happens I will read it here or people will be talking about it around the office. Mental health has improved greatly now that I don't hear how bad everything is every night.
Amen.. Everything is not "Breaking News" or an "alert" or even worth the excited adjectives that the news readers feel compelled to put into every sentence.
Yes, I only watch Trump rally videos and the incredible Tucker. Nothing else.

I want to add a voice to the voices last week regarding the disaster that is the Eviction Mediation program. They forced all of the Mediators through three hours of training (although it was really 4 as the final "hour" ran almost 2 hours). After putting the attorneys through mandatory training, they then kicked people out and said that the mediators were not appointed. I have a friend who is a real estate attorney and mediator who was not appointed. I have another friend who is a retired utility employee who was appointed. The program is a disaster.

I was a stress/depressed mess before COVID19. It's strange that in some ways it has helped me working from home. I am sleeping better at night. I find more comfort being at home working in my lazy clothes. However, COVID19 brings a whole new hosts of stresses. Zoom meetings are stupid and are never smooth. Deadlines are starting to creep up. I'm concerned my spouse will be without work soon – not in the legal field. I worry about our city being economically devastated. I worry about political issues. I have not yet missed deadlines but I am constantly having to request more time because in the last few months we have become very busy – so I feel stressed and guilty about constantly apologizing to clients and opposing counsel because there are so many hours in the day to work on cases. I could go on and on – I have been drinking a lot more – practically daily. I also feel like others are coping so much better so I am careful not complain about anything to my legal friends – which means I now have less people to talk to. My circle is much smaller basically. So – yea, not sure what my point is – but life sucks a big one right now on many levels – so I'm happy that at least while I'm a depressed mess, I can be a depressed mess at home.
I'll speak as someone who has remained quiet on social media this whole year – others are not coping much better. I think people are overcompensating with their positive posts or photos to try to feel normal. I'm drinking a lot more, shutting off to people in an attempt to not spread my negativity and anxiety, and seriously considering therapy or medication. Hang in there. I wish we had an anonymous support group. Or, I wish I wasn't so hung up on trying to look strong and together.
I watch the news all of the time. I read 2 morning papers. I look at issues and try to pick the candidate I'm most closely aligned with. I'm voting for Biden – Harris because Trump is unhinged. But, I'm wondering if any others voting for B-H are concerned about the NY POST Hunter Biden's emails?
Sounds like your are feeding your own political bias. If you are watching NBC or CNN you are only getting one side. Biden is not under the same microscope as Trump, neither was Hilary.
I'm more concerned that the populace/media/social networks are largely willing to turn a blind eye and/or decide that certain first amendment issues associated therewith are insignificant. That is the troubling trend. We spent two years chasing down pee-pee videos because people were desperate for it to be true, but we are uninterested (largely) in the Hunter Biden story. I don't think the Hunter Biden story is particularly relevant IMO as to the outcome of the election, but it is newsworthy. It's also important that Americans know that the likely President is deeply flawed like the current President. …
I am voting for Biden. By the same token I am extremely concerned about the Hunter Biden emails. If the choice is between Unhinged GOP Destroying Trump and Biden, I'm going with Biden. If this Hunter BS plays out and is true the whole dang group needs to be drained. At this point, I'm glad I'm closer to dead than a mid-life crisis.
Every human being is flawed. Joe Biden. Donald Trump. Me. You. But let's not kid ourselves and pretend that we're all the same as Donald Trump. His flaws are extreme and consequential. Trump and Biden are both flawed, but not equally flawed. Trump is uniquely illiterate, amoral, dishonest, narcissistic and indifferent to our democratic norms and institutions.
@2:50
Maybe, but Trump is getting things done. In contracts, Biden is a career politician who has never had a job in which he had to accept personal responsibility for outcomes (In general, I distrust anyone who hasn't had to work for a living or worry about making payroll). He has, his entire career, carried water for someone else. I would not hire him to run 7-11 store.
Yeah, the NY Post thing bothered me a lot. I do not know who I will vote for(IF I even vote), but it bothers me that Hunter has enriched himself and faces no consequences for any conduct, while I have to grind every day to pay down my student debts
@2:50. we are all flawed. When running for president or political office, your flaws should be exposed. We've spent 6 years chasing the President's. Yet, the media and 50% of the people are willing to ignore Joe Biden's. He's had his issues and they aren't insignificant and at other times (like in his prior Pres. campaigns) they were largely disqualifying–for instance plagiarism and dishonesty. The most amusing example recently is Judge Barrett using the term preference. It was front page news. Low and behold, Joe Biden used the same term in May, RBG two years ago, and most congress persons in the last 4 years. Did that get any coverage? Of course not. Why? Is it not significant that Joe Biden uses the same language that's considered anti-LGBTQIA+ when used by Judge Barrett? Is it not significant that Joe Biden has changed positions on gay marriage etc.? It may not change how a person votes due to the President's foibles, but it's newsworthy.
3:11, Trump has made payroll? Really? He's left a slew of unpaid workers and contractors in his wake.
And Biden always carried water for someone else? He was a US Senator for 36 years. Please explain how a US Senator is carrying water for someone else.
As to the Hunter story, it's simply not credible. Fox News even declined to run it due to credibility concerns.
I think it was a mistake to accept the Burisma position because it created the appearance of impropriety and allowed his dad's opponents to use it against him. That said, Senate Rs couldn't find any wrongdoing after a year plus of investigation. And the emails were provided to the Post by Rudy Giuliani, who US intelligence agencies have warned is the target of a Russian influence operation. So basically, the source of the emails is untrustable and there is no other record of a meeting between Joe and Burisma even taking place.
I'm not just saying to just attack the messenger and that's it. Sure, I don't trust Rudy, but I think to answer your question, most people are waiting to see if anything can actually be authenticated.
I’ve yet to see a single story saying the emails are fake. How they got the emails, that fails the sniff test. Then again, I thought we didn’t question sources and certainly no one really cares if some info is stolen or a breaking dossier proves malarkey.
I've yet to see a single story where Queen Elizabeth II denies that she is part of a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, which include The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tets up, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.
6:56, I've seen several stories reporting that different news outlets refused to publish Rudy's story because they couldn't independently verify that the emails are authentic. That doesn't prove they're fake, but it definitely shows that they haven't been authenticated as real and why people are skeptical.
It seems that the most credible criticism is that the emails were likely planted on a laptop or placed on a hard drive. Of course you'd want the metadata. However, it is surprising that neither VP Biden or Hunter Biden has said they aren't real. Perhaps they are, but the strategy now is to bury it. Did you take the same skeptical approach with the Steele Dossier. Several sources questioned the authenticity and reliability. Yet, the desire to say the President was peed on and therefore subject to Russian influence was too great. Be skeptical of these emails, fine, but the entire story from the media is totally different than a known "opposition" piece.
2:50 is delusional, a victim of the mainstream media and social media brainwashing. I bet 2:50 still thinks that the Russians supported Trump not Clinton.
Veritas again revealing the truth and suffering suppression for it.
@ 7:13 Hunter's former business partner, who was copied on nearly all of the emails, gave a reporter his email password to go in an independetly verify the emails are authentic.
And they are.
A vote for Biden is a vote for President Kamala Harris (who failed the bar exam).
Interesting. Is that why Schweizer (the reporter) said "I don’t have access, and have not had access to those emails." Because the reporter was really sooperdooper secretly confirming the NY Post story?
@ 9:36 PM I'm confused what you are referring to. Schweizer went on air with Glenn Beck and confirmed he had access, completely independent from whatever was provided to Giuliani.
"This is really important," he noted. "We're not looking at printouts. Not looking at PDFs. We're actually in his Gmail accounts themselves, sifting through these emails. And there's a shocking amount of information about deals involving China, involving Russia, involving all sorts of things they were trying to pull off."
Yes. Schweizer said he had access to Bevan Coomey's emails. He also said he didn't have any access to the emails talked about by the Post. So I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Schweizer's access somehow authenticated the Post's reported emails.

To what extent Hunter Biden's situation warrants investigation and sanction, is largely a moot point(at least pre-election) as it will not affect the election outcome.
It is currently covered mainly on FOX News(Mark Levin interviewing Rudy G), but the rest of the news media, which leans left in recent years, are pretty much ignoring it.
In fact nothing will change anyone's mind at this late date. People are now so polarized. The question is who will be more effective at firing up their base, and make certain that most of their base gets to the polls.
This "undecided voter" jazz is BS. When they interview these people before a debate, it usually becomes painfully obvious which candidate each has decided on.
But they claim to be open-minded and subject to change based on the debate. And then when they interview these people after the debate, and some of them have supposedly decided based on the debate, they select the candidate who it was clear they were supporting even pre-debate.
These undecided voter clowns are full of malarkey. They just want to be on television. They just want attention. They really crave their 15 minutes.
BTW, if someone is posturing themselves as being so open-minded and intelligent, and wanting to get more and more worthy and relevant information before deciding on who to vote for, why would they pin their entire decision and analysis as something as farcical as that last debate?
I started therapy a month ago. It was hard to get in and slightly inconvenient, but I realized I'm not going to get through this year without help.
