The death rate inside NDOC is frightening.

Good reason to avoid going to prison.

I think there needs to be more clarity on how these individuals died. If it was a stabbing, the press/news release should say that.

I do not understand why the LVRJ even wrote this article. Provide some information like HOW THEY DIED not just ages, crime convictions and sentence. The effing headline is the TWO things they all have in common. They are now DEAD and all DIED recently in NV Prisons. Why? How? and what are the consequences?

Half of these articles sound like either very poor AI slop or like they were written by someone who never even took journalism in high school.

Does anyone have news on what happened with Ty Maynarich since the arrest warrant was issued? I’m worried for that dude.

The bench warrant was quashed after a motion by the defense. His appearance in LVTJC is continued to March 12, for negotiations, according to the Register of Actions in No. 25-CR-012942.

OK I admit that I am probably out of date and this is something that people do all of the time without batting an eyelash. CCBA 40 Year Club Luncheon is $100 for Members and $130 for non-members. $130 for some pasta and chicken (or just pasta). I was going to go to celebrate some of the honorees but that is ridiculous for lunch.

Honorees – 55 Years (Admitted 1971)

Kenneth C. Cory
Jeffrey P. Zucker, Fennemore

But wasn’t Bill Maupin admitted in 1971? Who picks and chooses who is honored?

They miss people all the time. Last year, I had an opposing counsel whom I enjoyed very much. He was a persistent bull dog, but was quite wounded that his 40 year mark was not acknowledged or noted. I encouraged him to contact CCBA, but I think he was too embarrassed. He never did. Now he is completely retired.

The honest answer is whomever has been in the CCBA Directory for the years in question which usually means a CCBA Member in good standing. However CCBA invites any attorney who pays to join CCBA to come to their luncheon at $100 a pop and stand up and golf wave.

Regarding Judge Wanker, it annoys me so much when the Court punts on something like this where there is clearly a question that is broadly applicable that often escapes judicial review. Just articulate what the rule is now so there is an expectation and understanding of what it means for future cases.

It was interesting to watch. Lots of artistic license used. At the end, it served its job of pushing everything out of my brain before going to bed.

I dont think this question often escapes judicial review because no other judge has quite the creative concoctions which Judge Wanker has. So Nye.

Why would we want the court issuing an advisory opinion on a question that is not yet ripe?

Jones is the new chief judge. Also, no one else wanted that position. What changes will she bring over at the 8th?

Lots of docket moves, that’s for sure. Probably not until January 2027, but we know already that there are several DC judges leaving and several new ones coming. Time to stir the pot.
