kudos to the governor for focusing on an issue that affects exactly zero people. That’s real leadership right there–agitate your base and alienate everyone else.

Hmm. You must be a childless “progressive.” This affects many people. Especially those of us with daughters who particpiate in sports. Now, as you were, back to your cats.

I am not 11:37, but I am also certainly not a progressive. Lifelong GOP and worked in DC for Republican House member (not NV). I have two daughters that played sports through their youths up through HS. Neither played or will play intercollegiate athletics. This issue has affected my family exactly zero times.

It is ok to say that one believes that athletics should not be impacted by trans participation issues but also to say that it really is not an issue that materially is impacting citizens of Nevada.

I am 11:37, and I have both a child AND cats. Is your mind like totally blown?

We’ve had kids in Little Leaue, Pony League, Colt League, Pop Warner, high school athletics and college athletics. I have never seen a trans athlete.

And yet this was a major issue in the last Presidential election.

Just curious, have your kids actually been affected by a trans person wanting to play sports?

I’m not a childless progressive. In fact, I’ll plant some uncomfortable cognitive dissonance in your brain. I’m a temple recommend holding, tithe paying Mormon with a demanding calling and kids. And do you know what I think? I think I know when I see powerful people and groups villainizing and bullying smaller, powerless groups. That’s what’s happening here. I don’t have an answer for how we structure gender in college athletics. But I do know this – I did not appreciate the fear mongering ads that ran during every college football game last season. “She’s [Harris] for they/them, he’s [Trump] for us.”

Thanks for the virtue signaling – hope you can shoulder this uncomfortable cognitive dissonance: as a pipe hitting member of the same tribe, anyone in the organization who tells you they are “temple recommend holding, full tithe payer, with a demanding calling” is an insufferable a-hole BYU grad who is behind the nasty emails, frivolous motions, deceptive tactics to gain advantage for that filthy lucre, etc….the source of our pain in this profession (see yesterday’s topic) is this guy.

Do better my brother!

This issue got attention, leading to Lombardo to take action, when the UNR volleyball team faced it. Just because it doesn’t affect you, doesn’t mean it affects no one.

Sure and UNR Athletics will be governed by the NCAA and MWC, not this legislation. So once again show me the emergent need for this to be a legislative priority other than soapbox standing.

It’s an election priority and will remain so as long as it works.

instead of obsessing about athletes’ genitals/gender status, maybe the governor can spend a little time focusing on the chronic understaffing at NDOC and the noticeable jump in inmate deaths? Or the increase in the homeless population in Las Vegas? Or the lack of adequate funding for K-12 education? Or the lack of adequate medical services in rural communities? I’d go on, but I might never stop. Let’s just go back to thinking about what people have under their pants.

i have no opinions about the Gruden case as i dont know anything beyond whats reported in the papers about the issues, but it is nice to see NFL/Goodell’s power get reined in a bit.

Rumor was abusive to staff. Not sure how that would lead to removal from all cases.

The marijuana CLE today presented through the CCBA was exceptional. Amanda Connor did such a great job. (No, I’m not Amanda Connor, I don’t even know her). CCBA is such a great organization. The lunch time learning CLE’s are such high quality, useful events. For years now, I keep signing up for them even after I’ve fulfilled my CLE requirements each year because they are so interesting and useful! And they are FREE with your CCBA membership! If you are not in CCBA you are really and truly a dumbass.

If you join you can get a year’s of interesting CLE at lunchtime and get MP3/4 tapes of others. It is so cheap to join. Plus they have great events and lunches.
The free CLE and events included in the membership. The lunches are extra and they are also very good. I also enjoyed the pot presentation. Kudos.

As discussed the other day, you get the chance to pay $100 for a lunch at Panevino that costs between $50 and $65. Awwwwwesome.

This is the one CCBA luncheon I skip. The meal is ok but the problem is that the luncheon is like 2.5 hours itself. With driving, this one takes half the work day.
