Ditto. She is the only one with experience the types of cases this department handles, and she has experience pro temping in Muni court to handle the criminal stuff. Gonzalez is a (failed) family law judge, Hibbetts is a PD, and Massey apparently does bk. Why are they even running for a civil department?

Gonzalez was not a failed family court judge . . . . . . except by the low information voters of Clark County. He was professional and even tempered.

"Gonzalez, who was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1997, has an error rate of 36.36% out of 48 cases appealed, according to Our Nevada Judges, an organization that tracks judicial records. An error rate of less than 10% warrants a positive recognition by the organization." So how bad of a number is 36.36%?

I don't really have an opinion of who I would like to see win, but Bill Gonzalez could have a good shot. He's the only male in a four candidate race. The pro-female advantage in judicial races has no impact when such pro-female advantage needs to be split between three candidates. So, ironically, as the only male in a multiple candidate race there could almost be, as a result of the numbers, sort of a pro-male advantage going for him.

He is also first on the ballot, Hispanic, and has run some recent races wherein he came quite close, so he has a large built-in base of support consisting of tens of thousands of people who have voted for him recently.

I have no idea of who is the most qualified or who deserves to win, it's just that he has some pollical factors in his favor, IMO.

You mean he has some "political factors" in his favor. There may be truth in what you say, but as far as built-in pollical support, I believe Augusta Massey has also recently run for office. I'm not certain but I believe she ran for judge in 2020.I may well be wrong about that, and perhaps her name is real familiar to me for other reasons(e.g. BOG elections, perhaps).

@10:31 – While I agree with your analysis about Gonzalez benefiting by being the only male candidate and the splitting of the female vote amongst 3 female candidates, as well as, his ballot position being first on ballot. Unfortunately for him, it is unlikely he will surpass the 50% bar in the primary in a 4 candidate race. In the general election, he will face a single female candidate who will get the female vote advantage. He will continue to receive the approximate 5% first on ballot advantage but his opponent will get the approximate 3% last on ballot advantage (reducing the advantage to a net 2%).

Bill Gonzalez was fair and solid on the Family Court bench. I have no problem supporting him for this race.

Bill was also voted out of office the decisions he made. Plus, would you consider him a perennial at this point?

11:42, but if he is a perennial, that could help him, and 10:31 alludes to candidates benefitting from having run before.

His decisions had nothing to do with why he was defeated in a prior election.

Whether Gonzalez should win because he is male or Hispanic should not be discussed. Lets focus on his record and if he makes good judgements or not.
