With primary ballots set to start arriving in mailboxes next week, it’s time to talk about some of the contested judicial primary races featured on that ballot. We welcome your comments on the qualifications of the candidates as well as any information you can offer to help voters make an educated decision. Just remember to keep your comments appropriate and try to avoid defamation.
For District Court Judge, Department 23, the candidates are:
- Karl W. Armstrong
- Craig Friedberg
- Jasmin Lilly-Spells
- Jim Sweetin
Craig Friedburg is the guy who used to go around threatening to sue anyone who sent him an unsolicited/junk fax. kind of a niche specialty I guess. In this race, I will throw a dart at the ballot and see where it lands. Very disappointed in the quality of candidates overall.
This race reminds me of why I sometimes just vote for the oldest candidate figuring that when the choices are this bad I would rather just have the one who will retire or die the fastest.
This post wins the internet for today!
I was looking for the like button myself… made me laugh!
Wow, bad list. Yikes
Sweetin is a "hang em" DA and will be a worse judge. If you were pissed off at Herndon, just wait until Sweetin's convictions start coming home to roost. He wont be getting my vote not those of any of the 40-50 people that seek my input every judicial election. Not a chance.
Where does that leave us, then? There's no "none of the above" option I don't believe. Too bad Bruce Gale didn't file for this Department. I'd likely vote for him.
This x1000. Jimmy Attitude is the last guy you want on the bench. Unless you are a prosecutor.
The fact that so many of these pages have Boyd grads from '07 and '08 is cringy.
The Jim Sweetin campaign poster is hilarious because it shows him with a great big smile. People who have known him for a long time can testify that the man has not smiled like that in the last 20 years. Sweetin is a very limited guy; Jasmine Spells is a nobody. There really are no good candidates in this race.
