In my brief dealings with Michael Root he strikes me as a complete scum bag. Never met Adriana Escobar or appeared in her court, but I hear generally positive things about her.

Why couldn't Jeff Rugg or Mike Davidson have run in this race?

This. I don't know anything about Root, but I'm sick of the vacant expression that is Judge Escobar.

Agreed. There is nothing there with the incumbent. She is so completely over her head. She needs to go.

Escobar is the least qualified person on the bench. By far. She cannot make a ruling and, when she finally is forced to, it is wrong. She is petrified to be on the bench because 1) she knows she is completely unqualified, having barely practiced law other than administratively; and 2) she knows that every lawyer, litigant, juror and staff member in the courtroom can see that she knows she has no business being there. Complete deer-in-the-headlights look on her face. She is so grossly incompetent that she cannot even read coherently the script that her law clerk lays out for her.

The fact is she is less qualified than Halverson was. Escobar being petite, meek and soft-spoken is all that keeps her from being run off the bench like Halverson was. Vote her out.

It just shows that the judicial surveys and the newspaper don't have a clue what is going on in the courts day to day. It is hard to imagine that this incompetence has not been exposed.

I know, they said C. Friedberg is a fine selection. What a farce.

What is wrong with Friedberg? Tell us more. The RJ picked Judge Miley.

You can definitely tell when people who have no knowledge of Judge Escobar or her opponent is posting! Mike Davidson DID run against Judge Escobar in 2012 and lost. Some of Judge Escobar's prior experience? She worked as a prosecutor for the Attorney General's office for over 3 years prosecuting Securities/Mortgage Fraud. She also worked for Fox Rothschild for over a year representing clients. She was Nevada Consumer Advocate/Chief Deputy Attorney General for a year before her ex-husband was appointed to Attorney General and she had to step down. She was a principal in her own law firm for over 5 years before being a PUCN Commissioner; this law firm practiced business litigation and corporate law. She also worked at a private firm in San Diego primarily on real estate-related issues. She was also a Deputy City attorney for the City of San Diego for a few years. Just because she might have a touch of stage fright doesn't mean that she is not a good judge. She is probably one of the fairest Judges currently on the bench and she considers every fact in each case before her. She definitely has more experience in all legal matters than her opponent who appears to only practice family law.

Wow! I had no idea she had such diverse and important legal experience. The reason I had no idea is because she is such a hot mess up there on the bench. If she did even half of what you claim, it clearly was done without her ever setting foot in a courtroom. Amazing that could happen. Seemingly impossible, right?

Regardless of how you want to spin her unofficial "resume," the fact is she never tried a case as a lawyer (and if someone is going to challenge that assertion, please be sure to give the case names). If you're going to be a judge, you better have been in a courtroom. A lot. Over the course of many years. She wasn't, and it is glaringly obvious. She knows nothing about trial procedure, rules of evidence or the law she is there to uphold and rule on. She doesn't understand what a motion in limine is. The words sustained or overruled are not in her vocabulary. BTW, if you are reading this, Judge Escobar, you pick one of those words to say back to the lawyers when one of them says "objection." Just one, not both, OK?

She has come a long way on her looks, name and affirmative action considerations. Good for her. But now that she has made it to the "stage" that you admit shes frightened to be on, it is clear she has no idea how to act on it. She has been exposed as the do-nothing she is. Who cares if Root is. Has he tried some cases? Yes? Awesome! Welcome to the bench, Judge Root! Go work somewhere else Escobar, preferably not on the taxpayers' dime.

Only Escobar herself or someone who works on her campaign would have such detailed knowledge of her background.

Its pretty offensive that you attribute her looks for where she is today. If she were a male judge nobody would comment on his appearance. I have been before Judge Escobar and at first I judged her on her quiet demeanor. She proved me wrong. She made a difficult ruling (against my motion) but provided a good analysis for her ruling.

I am not saying she is the best candidate, but stop the sexist commentary.

Get real 10:47. There is no question that being a hot female helps with getting elected. It may not be the only reason, but it is a major reason. By the same token, it helps to be a good looking man if you want to get elected. Just being good looking in general is helpful for both sexes. And the commentary on her deer in the headlights look is spot on, regardless of whether she looks like Bambi or Darth Maul.

10:47 is real, and hitting the nail on the d…heads. Our bar is a joke. We are almost like the Birmingham of the West. We discriminate against all groups, especially women. We get overly aggressive, just shy of committing battery on female attorneys, but hey let's also judge whether or not a female in the legal community is hot. These repetitive sexist games are getting old, and it does matter what you do in your business life as well as your personal, so go to hell.

Adriana Escobar is compassionate, articulate and more than competent. She gets my vote. And from the voting results of this survey, most agree she is the best choice. Keep up your good work Judge Escobar!

Miley is a superior choice of Friedberg. Friedberg is not an ideal choice at all. He is ineffectual. He is lazy. Not a good attorney at all.

I have heard nothing but bad things from the legal community about Root. Lots of 'crazy as a bedbug' terms that have been heard.

Wow sounds like 1:19 pm might be Root himself. Things are getting even more interesting. And he appears to hate the good Judge! Too bad for him.

This race is best characterized as the "evil of two lessers".

Regardless of who wins, the ultimate loser is Clark County.

Escobar is nice and well intended, but totally out of her depth.

Root, I've heard, is just nuts.

So, step right up and make your choice: incompetence or insanity…

What's up with Judge Earley? I have a few files in front of her and it seems like she is never in court. Instead, senior judges seem to be running her Department.

It seems Judge Earley has been MIA when it comes to her court calendar and motions. Is she up to the job health wise? Anyone else have the same experience?

She was tied up for months in that trial with Eglet, but that's been done for a couple of months now. I've recently had the same experience with a motion inexplicably getting continued for five or six weeks.

Sorry, no, this does not explain why Senior Judges are covering Judge Earley's calendar before the Eglet trial and after the Eglet trial. There is something going on in Dept. 4. I suppose the newspaper or someone could ask for all the records of Senior Judges covering her calendar.

I have the same complaint. She is nice enough and seems to grasp the issues and law, but she is always kicking the can down the road. Its frustrating.

Root is a little angry man. I would never want to be in front of him.
