Hearing whispers this morning in court that there was another explicit zoom bombing yesterday in Judge Williams courtroom. This is not the first time. I wonder when the court will figure out better security measures.
Some jurisdictions limit Zoom to parties and counsel. Seems reasonable to me.
Keep courts open by allowing non-parties to view proceedings. Stop all zoom bombing by muting microphones and blurring non-party cameras. Easy fix.
I went to join Joe Hardy’s zoom proceeding a week or so ago. They placed me in a waiting room and made me check in via the waiting room before the clerk would admit me. Difficult for the clerk if its a large calendar and everyone logs in 5 minutes before the start time, but that’s how it should be done.
Family Court still uses breakout rooms (ONJ be damned)
I don’t know if it is still the case, but the last time I was on a hearing where there was a zoom bombing, we learned that the court hadn’t acquired the right kind of license to prevent it. Maybe they don’t have an enterprise level version?
Psh, explicitly bomb a hearing in person and I will be impressed. Never seen a streaker in Court, but it has to have happened at least once.
What the hell is going on with the Henderson chief. Is there a feud between her and the city council? Is she actually union busting? Why is Henderson so bad at hiring police chiefs?
Feud between her and the union
Employee/Union member abusing position to obtain OT (conducting union business while on the clock, I suspect). The Chief was trying to get a handle on it, as was the City. Sorry to see the City is making the Chief the sacrificial lamb.
My understanding is that he had a certain amount of union time permitted under his contract, and that she started busting his balls for using it. I don’t know who is in the right/wrong (if anyone), but they are on about their third chief in five years or so. Sounds pretty dysfunctional.
A few days ago, someone posted this:
“Boyd grad
https://www.nevadaappeal.com/news/2025/feb/14/former-carson-public-defender-faces-lewdness-charge/ ”
The reference to Boyd speaks volumes. I can’t forget the misogyny that was deeply ingrained there. Some faculty didn’t just ignore it due to laziness—they actively showed empathy toward it. Many women’s careers were destroyed because Boyd chose to look the other way. One woman reportedly took her own life, and many believe the mistreatment she endured from a Boyd student, played a significant role in her decision.
During my time at Boyd, there was a student who was a habitual, psychopathic liar. Nearly everything he said was fabricated, yet the faculty turned a blind eye. This man ended up derailing a very young woman’s career and almost got her disbarred.
In the past 18 months, one Boyd grad was convicted of murdering a journalist simply for reporting on him. Another was convicted of soliciting minors. And now, we have this latest case. These are just the incidents we know about—the tip of the iceberg. There’s so much more that goes unreported and unchecked.
Is Boyd responsible for all of this? No, of course not. But does Boyd, in its culture and lack of accountability, teach these men that they can get away with anything? Yes, absolutely. The faculty write law review articles, teach from textbooks, and do a lot of lucrative “outside work,” but most of them have only a couple years of practice under their belts — and in areas they don’t teach. They’ve never truly practiced law with any responsibility and they have no idea of the consequences of their “Boyd culture.”
Who else is making plans to leave the country? https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1892614164562010284
Nope. Neither are you.
Just filled out my long-term visa for France
Good bye
And then what ?
@12:59: “our cultural message is… we think god made male and female for a purpose…” reading between the lines, and knowing the other things he’s said, he means women were made to be subjugated.
Wow, your capability for the long reach is admirable. How about we just evaluate what he said and not what you tend to insinuate that he might have meant.
Nonsense.
https://www.self.com/story/jd-vance-views-women
1. He agreed that helping raise children is the “whole purpose of the postmenopausal female.”
2. He insinuated that abortion isn’t a “normal” thing that most suburban women care about.
3. He suggested that women can’t be great leaders or teachers without having kids of their own.
4. He said that women choose “a path to misery” when they pursue their careers instead of starting a family.
5. He previously supported a national abortion ban to prevent people from accessing care by crossing state lines.
6. He once implied that a pregnancy resulting from rape or incest may be “inconvenient” but should be carried to term.
7. He said companies that support abortion just want “cheap labor.”

J.D. Vance’s views on women: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/07/24/jd-vance-gender-views-00170673
Yes. Politico is the bastion of journalistic integrity with all that gubment cheese flowing into its coffers.
Are you an actual attorney?
This is not the “own” that you think it is.
Careful, that’s 48 right there.
Be careful about using my first amendment rights? What is he going to do? Send me to a gulag or concentration camp? genuinely, why would I be careful?
Sadly, you kinda do gotta be careful given that these billionaires have become whiny ass bitches when it comes to criticism. See also Steve Wynn, Zodiac Killer.
J.D. Vance isn’t a billionaire. He’s just a billionaire’s errand boy. He’s owned by Peter Theil.
Careful, but only for your own well being.
Because your disappointment might deepen your despair.
You coping ok?
A life of young adult men and cheese. What’s not to love? Ou la la.
re: becoming an ex-pat. The problem is that when the U.S. goes down the toilet (and the handle has been depressed already), it takes the rest of the world with it. Indeed, would you rather be in some European country being attacked by Russia and the U.S., or here where at least you have guns to put up a fight?
Look, if Russia starts nuking everyone, I’d at least want a year or two with good food, good-looking French men (whom I don’t have to listen to because I don’t speak French), and good, affordable healthcare. I’ll take Raphaël Personnaz. You can have a beer with J.D. Vance and talk about… Catholicism, I guess.
Unworthy snipe at the Church. You should leave the country.
It was a swipe at Vance’s wet cardboard personality.
Coming from the person who probably thought Tim freaking Walz was relatable and authentic.
@3:37 here. Au contraire. I am a big fan of Pope Francis.
“‘Ordo Amoris’ according to JD Vance and Pope Francis”
https://thecatholicherald.com/ordo-amoris-according-to-jd-vance-and-pope-francis/
The only specific thing you mention is Telles. Boyd bears zero culpability for the murder of German. I did not go to Boyd and I don’t even hire from Boyd. But this is, respectfully, absolute nonsense.
As a fellow Boyd grad (female), I do not know where this is coming from.
Are there instances of individuals being misogonistic? For sure.
But to say it’s a cultural issue ignores the undeniable fact that Boyd is (in large part) run by progressives who would proudly call themselves feminists.
In any event, 5 bad actors in a group of 1000s of Boyd alumni is not evidence of a cultural or systemic problem. If you disagree, apply that logic (these 5 members of this group did a bad thing, which means the entire group has issues) elsewhere and you’ll be quickly called racist or worse.
12:53 pm here. If you don’t want to believe it, I truly don’t care. It would not be the first time a woman didn’t believe another woman. But anyone who was in the night time class of 2015 class will remember “J,” and anyone in the 2016 class will remember “David.” Of course, Telles derailed the career of another woman who was on bar association board, and Boyd looked the other way. If you don’t want to look further at what happened to them, that’s on you.
No, that’s not how this works. In an argument, the burden rests on the person making the assertion. That’s you.
David was the biggest sack of shit that ever went through Boyd. Thumbs up for you!
Now that is a name that brings up memories, most of them just leave me shaking my head and rolling my eyes. We had some brilliant women in our cohort and id hate to think anything had slowed down their careers.
“Nothing happened to me so nothing is bad” is quite the take.
Boyd “teaches these men they can get away with anything” and somehow faculty not having much work experience in their areas is related to that? This comment makes no sense.
Think really hard about when you were able to get away with behaving any way you wanted in practice.
After nearly three decades, I have seen attorney’s get away with almost anything and everything contrary to the “rules.” My personal observation is that attorney’s get in real trouble when they misappropriate (steal) client funds. Some of the worst IMHO have been from the University of Tulsa, BYU, University of San Diego, University of Missouri, McGeorge. There are more.
So, sexual assault, physical assault, sexual harassment, and sex discrimination is just par for the course and we should just let it go?
The only specific allegation in this whole thread is against Robert Telles, who has already been convicted.
Please see the beginning of this thread. Perhaps in all your years of practice, you’ve forgotten to follow a narrative.
FIFY
A very specific and calculated narrative that if you do not follow and parrot perfectly with enthusiasticly exaggerated approbation, then you sir are to be cancelled. . . . . .forthwith.
Middle-aged male temper tantrums are so odd.
You think that this is a temper tantrum? and youare assuming that 654am is both middle aged and male?
Not exactly based on anything other than your own biases.
Tell me more.
Is this an apparent new phenomenon? I went to Boyd in the ‘Paradise’ days so there wasn’t much of any ‘culture’ yet except everyone kind of being new to it all. From the post it seems like a mid-2000s thing but from the outside it does seem like the faculty and admin are largely very progressive liberal. (not trying to typecast but it seems more common than not)
The post is about the link at the beginning.
Boyd after Dean Morgan was very different
Oh Lord, Boyd is not misogynistic now and wasn’t particularly misogynistic then. I was there at the same time as from what you have posted and what you have posted here is total nonsense. In fact I can cite to a number of situations in which female staff and students were given preferential treatment. That’s the great thing about anecdotes, you can pull them out of your ass and deploy them to support nearly any position you want.
This post sounds like a particular student who emailed similar nonsense to the entire student body and was soundly mocked by men and women for doing it. If that was in fact you, please, give us a sign. That would be hilarious.
