blog is dead
It never gets old for you, eh?
The nice part is that when this Blog was reaching the end of its life that it had palliative choice to assist it in comfortably dying.
Speaking of end-of-life stuff, has anyone else updated their HCPOA form library to reflect the new statutory form?
Yesterday’s thread sucked. Really boring stuff, folks.
R/J raises questions over Metro hiding details of Guymon investigation and cite their “experts” who happen to be aligned with the R/J. Such a bunch of cloying claptrap.

Sorry did not mean to attach the link since its above. But yes it is an active investigation so no surprising that the entire case file is not public record.
if you could go back and choose not to go to law school, would you?
Pepperdine. It’s at the beach.
No, it’s in the hills above the beach.
I would still go. I paid very little in tuition, make lots of money now and mostly enjoy my practice area.
same
me too
I would absolutely go again. Being a lawyer gives you the virtually guaranteed opportunity to move up tax brackets and enjoy a great quality of living especially if you do not come from wealth.
I would go to law school just for the benefit of being a lawyer. I can not afford me. Most lawyers are full of **** so you have the ability to see through it. You get treated differently and better when say “I am a lawyer too.”
Maybe. But would definitely do PI or criminal work.
right out of school?
I’m not @1:30p but knowing what I know now, and my decisions regarding my practice now (which I’ve started to dislike) – I would have come out and gone straight into either a technology transactional/privacy practice with the goal of going in-house, or slaved away at an insurance defense firm for a year or two to pay dues and learn, then switched to PI. Hindsight…
I think the rigors of that type of study are good for the human character. Everyone wants to talk young people from going. I say if you have it in your heart and mind to go to law school, you must go–even if you end up doing something else.
Still considering opening that yoga studio in Belize, though …
That advice would be fine if it didn’t risk crippling debt.
It doesn’t everywhere. My law degree was comparably inexpensive and my loans were paid off the day they became due
I would, but this time around I would go to the unranked school that offered me a free law degree. I would not choose to be tied to law school debt again.
Graduated in 1996.
Worked in big firms 1996-2008 and it sucked. Mostly hated my work, my co-workes, and my clients.
Went out on my own in early 2009. It was a little tough at first; but I’ve enjoyed practicing law and have made a lot of money since 2011.
I’d do it again, but I’d do it differently.
I tried to bounce the first year and a professor asked what the harm was in just finishing the degree. Now I know, plenty of harm. Would not do again.
Moreso go back and change my early couple years of practice.
A link in yesterday’s header is about the parents of kid that died while riding his minibike. I do not understand what standing the parents have. The kid was high, riding a motorized bike that is not allowed and the cable was placed by someone other than the county. Help a real estate attorney understand.
Is your question about standing or the merits of the case?
They have standing to sue for wrongful death – both as parents and on behalf of the deceased.
As to the merits, from the article “the family alleges the county is responsible for the safety of those using the trail and that the water authority was obligated to “remove accumulated trash and debris.” Perhaps there’s contributory negligence arguments, but those are what trials are for. If someone strung up that wire to hurt those kids, someone should be held liable.
As someone else mentioned, the parents have standing. Also, read the complaint. It alleges a Metro officer previously cited him and his brother for riding their motor bikes on the road and instructed them to use the trail moving forward, which they did. SNWA was responsible for maintaining the trail and allegedly was negligent in doing so.
How you like them apples?
Welcome to the Nevada legal system.
The Pages sue Katherine Houston

Looks like three separate cases filed through three different firms. That’s the right way to do it. There may not be all that much in the way of assets, but I hope they take every dime.
Of Joe’s assets? Sure. I have not seen a shred of evidence that Mrs. Houston had any reason to know that Joe was going to pull out a gun and slaughter people in front of her eyes.
As far as “separate”, the lawsuits were all filed within an hour of each other and were clearly coordinated. Paul Page is a Plaintiff in two of the three suits
A-25-913206-C Claggett
A-25-913208-C Morris Sullivan Lemkul
A-25-913210-C Moss Berg
Mrs. Houston’s remaining assets likely are not the target. These suits will attempt to wrangle insurance dollars. That’s where the money is. Should be interesting.
As intentional of a tort as there is. Good luck with the insurance dollars.
Look who the lawyers are – they know how to create insurance coverage out of thin air.
I will say there is one name on that list that surprised me.
