I was prepared to roll my eyes at the article about medical clinics hiring attorneys. I was wrong. What a great service and excellent example of outside-the-box thinking.
PBR Rodeo Convention (which brings in $15 million in non-gaming revenue per year) is officially out of Vegas for good. What's more, PBR CEO is alleging they were "blacklisted" and couldn't even get a call back from the Governor's office as they submitted detailed plans to Sisolak's office outlining the proposed event…
The continued incremental slide of turning Las Vegas into a mini So.Cal – note that sources within the Convention and Visitor's Authority are mentioned:
"But according to multiple sources at PBR and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Sisolak has made it his personal mission to do everything he can to push these events out of Vegas and make sure they don’t come back – high on the Sisolak hitlist were the NFR and PBR Rodeos, SEMA, and the SHOT Show."
All those shows Sisolak wants out have 1 thing in common: the participants are more likely to lean politically to the Right. Welcome to the new world order.
Oh Ben, your position is so asinine it is no wonder Susan Johnson more than doubled the amount of votes you received. You suggest citizens (likely life-long Nevadans) should just uproot their lives and move to Idaho, simply because they are unhappy with the elected officials and the current political climate here in Nevada? Why not just tell Mandela that if he didn't like Apartheid he should just leave? It's called advocating for change, something you – as a "lawyer" – should be familiar with.
Weow, Sue Johnson is nasty. Still will always remember what you and the Nevada Supreme Court did to Jacob Hafter.

Practice tip: when drafting a discovery motion or letter, look first for cases from Nevada state and federal courts and federal courts within the Ninth Circuit, and only cite cases from other courts if you can't find a Nevada or Ninth Circuit case supporting your position. I'm tired of reading and having to respond to briefs and letters that cite a 20 year old case from the Vermont Court of Appeals or an unpublished case from the District of Kansas. It tells me that you're either too lazy to look for a case from Nevada or Ninth Circuit courts or that you're making some novel argument that's been endorsed by only a couple courts in the country.

From the article: It incorporates legal assistance into its medical practice for patients facing eviction or deportation proceedings, among other legal woes. And the state's Medicaid program helps fund the initiative.
I love the creative thinking. I treasure my time working pro bono. But why does practically every "innovation" in the legal field involve diverting ever more resources from the productive to the unproductive? How about getting landlords and small businesses some desperately needed help? Why only focus on those who will never yield a positive return on the investment of time and resources?
I fear that we are heading into a period where only connected mega corps and bums will have proper representation.

Agreed – very cool that they're doing this

But I thought Ben Nadig said Nevada wasn't turning into California and "we're actually doing pretty well"?? Hmmm

Idaho is nice this time of year, I think you're really going to enjoy it.
All bow down to Sisolak, the great wise one. For he knows better that ye what is good for you.

No point in moving to I-DA-HO as it is already infested with Californians.
