Yeah!!!! Call my Mercedes rep! "There is now the potential that this bankruptcy can get very litigious, complex and long," said David Tawill, president of the Maglan Capital hedge fund.
GS would still be alive and in full glory if only the boneheads at Caesars had filed here. Pity. Why should Chicago get all that sweet dough?
Nah man, maybe they'd be local counsel. Caesars' directors aren't going to risk their skin by hiring some yocals in Nevada. This was always going to some big name firm that charges triple GS' rates.
You mean GS' fancy digs wouldn't have been enough to convince Caesars of its ability to handle a BK of this magnitude? Highlights the foolishness of GS' thinking.
and greed
John Peter Lee passed away on July 9, 2015. Sad.
He was a historical and legal icon in this town. I will not comment on what he was like to work with or against as that is not appropriate immediately after his passing. Sad is not a word which came to mind except for members of his family, to whom condolences.
He was a man who made a positive difference in Nevada.
Have to agree with 10;06 Condolences to the family. The legal community? not so much…
That's kind of you 10:06 a.m. My old boss used to say that we could always expect an adversarial, scorched earth case when dealing with JLP and/or his litigation family tree.
It's weird how when people die it becomes taboo to say the person sucked, but it would not have been taboo the day before …
I hope that when I die, 10:06 and 12:49 will say the same things about me. "They don't boo nobodies." -Reggie Jackson.
My old boss used to say that we give everyone extensions and professional courtesies on their first request (at least), except JPL. I'm sure that advice came at the benefit of JPL's client. Condolences to the family.
Last week there was a discussion about SB 162 which repealed NRS 690B.042. Anyone know of any other bills passed by NV Leg which will likely affect PI attys?
http://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/78th2015/Reports/history.cfm?billname=SB162
The bill does away with NRS 690B.042. Once you provide releases and make a claim, the insurance company used to be required to divulge the policy or coverage defense. Now they are not mandated to divulge. How does that help defendants? It will just go to litigation where they will ask. Insurance companies were not providing the information before the repeal.
Thank you….Anyone know of any other bills passed by NV Leg which will likely affect PI attys?
Pay your money and join NJA – all this will be at your fingertips.
Only if you are a plaintiff's attorney. What if defense then assume you can't join or can't get all the information.
Join LVDL. It's relatively small, but growing.
The big story is what did not pass. Bills pertaining to joint and several and the collateral source rule did not pass.
