Happy first day of fall! The Commission on Judicial Selection is accepting applications for the seat being vacated by Justice Abbi Silver. A commenter yesterday said they “heard through the grapevine that Judges Tierra Jones, Susan Johnson, and Jerry Wiese will probably be applying for appointment for the seat being vacated by Justice Silver.” Who would you like to see fill Seat F on the Nevada Supreme Court?
First! TTHHWWAACCKK! #FreeBonnieBulla
I would like to see Betsy Gonzalez or Jennifer Togliatti apply for the seat.
High five to either of those @1115. Thank you!
Pass on Betsy.
This
Here is the thing that I like about Betsy for the position. (1) She has handled complex legal issues and has a sharp legal mind. (2) She hates Hardesty and would absolutely go toe to toe with him and frankly might be able to align with Pickering to take control of the court away from Hardesty.
Hardesty is gone in a couple of months anyway. Retiring.
Betsy is a Republican and Sisolak will never appoint her.
Two aholes too
JT would be great. Betsy should stay retired. I love Jerry but there is no way that a middle-aged white dude is going to be appointed to a female-held seat. Just is not going to happen.
Jerry is also a republican. Isnt Tog as well? IDK, asking.
Just a reminder: the question was "Who would you like to see fill Seat F on the Nevada Supreme Court?" not who do you think Sisolak will appoint or even who will apply. Betsy and JT are making bank at ARM with a much less stressful life so not sure that they would want to go to Carson City. BG would have broad support from the democrats as well as republicans so not concerned that politics would keep her out.
Dont use JAMS
Side question here – how many arbitrations/mediations do each of those mediators and/or arbitrators over at ARM or JAMS do per year?
The few times I've over there, I see like 1-2 rooms being occupied and/or used (mine included) and several former judges kinda hanging out looking homeless. So I'm kind of suspicious if (mostly) former judges at these two resolution companies are really "making bank" like I've heard here and at other times as well.
I'm typically a democratic voter, but I would love to see Todd Bice get a seat on the NV S.Ct if he was interested in it.
We could definitely do worse.
JT yes
Joey Gilbert
Speaking of JG, he got sanctioned for his frivolous election challenge. https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/joey-gilbert-sanctioned-over-failed-election-contest-must-pay-attorneys-fees-to-lombardo
He has some rich dude funding his stuff, so it is not even his money. He doesn’t care.
Who would that be? You cant just post some BS rumor. We require more.

I read the Indy article, which has a link to the blog by this 🤡 backing Gilbert. My mind is blown. This is some next level conspiracy stuff.
This is what is said about their expert.
“Well, aside from their certifying this fraud, my brilliant 1-in-8-billion-friend, Edward Solomon saw huge issues.
He literally said that the barn was on fire.
The so-called justice system doesn’t deem him fit to be an expert, let alone a whistleblower because he doesn’t have a fancy piece of paper saying he’s smart.
So regardless of the fact that the barn is on fire and he’s pointing it out, they call it hearsay….
Edward dropped out of college because they were trying to dumb him down, and he was smarter than his teachers by light years.
Similar to the kid with the 300 IQ whose parents pulled him out of college but I digress.
Edward found the issue, but he’s not a certified PhD, he doesnt have that “I’m smart” piece of paper. He additionally has a criminal record as he made a mistake trying to impress a girl in 2015 and received a felony.
He did his time, got out, and decided he had enough of doing things people don’t comprehend and went to help kids by installing swing sets.
Simple work, huge rewards.“
The above reads like an Onion article.
WTF The Onion is where I get all my news!
Maybe this is the chance of Bonnie Bulla to again follow Silver and make the jump.
#freebonnie
You're right, Bonnie should follow Silver into early retirement.
Working on a criminal matter in las vegas justice court (not on either side of the "v," just a client that has an interest in the litigation). I can't for the life of me find rules of practice/procedure applicable to criminal matters. Is it kind of a free-for-all thing? Perhaps I'm missing a set of rules somewhere?
The statewide rules of criminal practice apply to district court proceedings only, so those are no help, unfortunately.

Well EDCR would not apply to Justice Court.
