Earlier this week, the RJ profiled Jason Gerber, a newly appointed director at Marquis Aurbach Coffing, for one of its columns entitled “Nevadan at Work.” Jason seems like someone I could have a beer with. What do you think?

Yep, I'd have a beer with him. But I've have a beer with most people.
He's a cool dude and a good lawyer.
But an athlete? I'm not so sure…
Breaking (relatively so) news. The local publication that shall not be named is announcing that the judicial selection panel has forwarded three names to the governor to select our newest district court judge. No surprise that Michael Davidson is on the list. A misdemeanor prosecutor in a felony world who has been turned down by the voters should not get a gimme to the bench. And the fact he would have to run for re-election in 2012 is no consolation. The other two (both currently on the public dole) are not big names outside of their specialty areas. The article says 16 people put in for the job. I don't recall any scrutiny, or even mention, of potential candidates until today, though I bet more than a few former judicial losers were on the list.
Jason Gerber was one of my favorite opposing counsel, ever. He works ridiculously hard, is a consummate professional, smart, personable, articulate . . .
And no, I'm not related to him. I'd have a beer with him any day to congratulate him.
