What part of "well regulated" don't you understand? Why do…
No to Maxey. Her career has virtually no domestic experience. She spent her time in juvenile court and guardianship. While technically family court, it’s not what she’d be doing as a judge. We’ve already got Parlade in Dept A handling a domestic calendar and the majority of her career was spent in CPS cases. Frankly, she struggles with the law and does not do a good job handling domestic matters. Add to that, Gaudet has been doing a great job. He’s got the right temperament and he’s smart. I suggest you watch his interview with Our Nevada Judges. His opinions on out sourced providers are spot on. Family court practitioners need to start following the rules and that includes NRCP 35 and Hallmark. No more judges letting paid hacks spout nonsense and pseudo science in the courtroom.
Not sure about Maxey, but family law doesn’t exactly require any heavy mental lifting
You say that, but when you get dragged into family court those mental light weights can be the ones determining where your money and your children go. Disparaging family court is fair. It is a train wreck. But that’s not an excuse to vote for more of the same. Gaudet is doing good work. He’s got my vote and I’ll probably donate to his campaign.
Maxey is a woman. That’s all you need to know. She’ll win.
– Sincerely, someone who lost student body president in high school to a girl and never got over it.
Gaudet is doing a great job. No need for a change here.
Gaudet has my vote
Female candidates have a nearly insurmountable advantage in Clark County judicial elections. Prove me wrong.
Agreed and it’s unfortunate. Gaudet is doing a good job and deserves to keep the seat.
Very unfortunate because it keeps some otherwise very good lawyers/legal minds off the bench.
At least Gaudet is higher then Maxey on the alphabetized ballot. That with the Incumbent position might be enough to overcome the female advantage.
Should’ve started calling himself Paul a. Gaudet
Didn’t help Atkin
Fair enough.
I am voting for Guadet.
Hope the 2020 women wave takes a pause this year. Enough with inexperienced women getting either appointed or running for a seat out of the realm of their law experience and practice.
Bruh. It aint a wave. It’s reality.
. . . .and it sure the hell did not start in 2020.
What is the reasoning behind the high probability of success of women winning judicial elections? Was always curious about that.
Low information voters.
Sure, I guess my question more specifically is why do low info voters generally vote for women?
Well, according to the peer reviewed study in 2022 BY the sociology department at the University of . . . . . . . GTFOH.
A study/poll done on the subject by one of the political consultants found that all things being equal-female judicial voters will favor female judicial candidates 55 to 45 per cent. Women make up the slight majority of voters in Nevada–something like 51 or 52 per cent. Women vote more frequently. Early voting favors female turnout. Women candidates appeal to women voters by running their ads on TV during peak times like during shows that females voters watch. Most voters don’t know the judicial candidates and don’t care to learn or research it. Unless there is something negative then it still favors female v. male. On the otherand–two female candidates generally have no advantage.
This comment section is so telling. I can almost hear Andrew Tate in the background through my screen.
