With mail-in ballots already arriving and early voting starting Saturday, it’s time to talk about some of the contested judicial races featured on that ballot. We welcome your comments on the qualifications of the candidates as well as any information you can offer to help voters make an educated decision. Just remember to keep your comments appropriate and defamation-free.
For the Supreme Court of Nevada, Linda Bell and Ron Parraguirre are unopposed. Likewise, Michael Gibbons and Bonnie Bulla are unopposed for the Court of Appeals. The only contested statewide judicial office is for Court of Appeals, Department 1, where your choices are:
- Forsberg, Rhonda K.
- Westbrook, Deborah
- None of These Candidates
- Chattah, Sigal
- Ford, Aaron D.
- Kennedy, John T.
- None of These Candidates

When a judge is running unopposed, do we still get the None of These Candidates as a solid choice?
Yes, for statewide offices, none of the candidates is a choice in uncontested. And the funny thing is the uncontested will get different vote totals in such a way that you can tell people are actively voting for or against them.
My views on Ms. Chattah have gotten me TTHHWWACCKK'ed before, so let me just say this:
Please don't vote for her. If you are a Republican who wants to vote Republican, please don't vote for her. If you are a conservative who viewed the pre-Adelson RJ with a healthy amount of respect, please take notice that even the post-Adelson RJ endorsed the Democratic incumbent.
Mine too. Better than a guy who can't manage his finances enough to avoid tax liens against his home.
How does mismanagement of personal finances compare at all to a candidate like Chattah who clearly failed to do enough opposition research on her libertarian rival to recognize he didn't qualify for the ballot at all, and then blew the deadline to object to his candidacy by a matter of months? For those concerned about good use of taxpayer money, consider how much taxpayer money may be wasted on litigating procedural mishaps of this kind in the event Chattah gets charge of the entire AG's office.
I am in for Sigal as well. Ford has done nothing and I will take change over more of the same.
Those of you planning to vote for Chattah must not have litigated a case against her. Not good. And if she's borderline competent in her chosen profession, I shudder to think how ill-prepared she would be as the A.G. FYI – her political party is irrelevant to me. Dem or Repub, Im not voting for her because personal experience litigating against her tells me she has no business in that position.
Change for change's sake is intellectually weak…and a really dumb position to take in an election. I have litigated against Chattah. "Ill-prepared" is a generous description of her competence.
Sorry, I am voting for every woman on the ballot.
You're welcome, I am voting for every man on the ballot.
So let me get this right…. Sisolak's girlfriend was on the board involved in a scandal…Forsberg volunteered as legal council for the group… and then Sisolak appointed her to a bench seat?
"Forsberg is a former family law attorney who applied in 2018 for a position on the Clark County Family Court bench, but was not chosen. The following year, Gov. Steve Sisolak appointed her to the court. She is endorsed by the governor, according to her website.
Her application says she “volunteered as legal counsel for Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth” and was “asked to assist the board of directors after that organization suffered a financial scandal.”
Sisolak’s former girlfriend, Kathleen Vermillion, who ran the nonprofit until the alleged scandal, denied any wrongdoing and was never charged. " https://www.nevadacurrent.com/2022/10/11/four-of-five-statewide-appeals-court-races-unopposed/
