Horrific. This is the result of kids without functioning parents, “restorative justice” in CCSD and social media. If we are going to have the death penalty, I am fine with putting 15+ year olds to death who murder innocent cyclists and/or fellow classmates. Wouldn’t that require SCOTUS over-ruling precedent?

alright, so on the legal front. How does one even go about punishing. I understand the ‘mens rea’ is difficult in these mob type situations. Add that on them being ‘juveniles’ and it seems like a procedural morass from the start?

It’s not- Did you intend to throw punches and kicks? Second degree murder comes to mind. Did you encourage others to do so? Comes to mind for them also. The mob part IS the meas rea.

Oh, for crying out loud. The 2025 Bar Retreat- I mean, Conference – is going to be held in Washington DC?
As a reminder from their NYC jaunt:
“• The format of the conference schedule also changed this year, providing more time for networking events (which are cited as the top reason for attorneys attending the conference) and time to see the sights in NYC.

• As we anticipated, New York was also expensive. For the first time, the bar paid rental fees for our CLE and reception locations within the hotel, and we were hit with labor and AV expenses that well exceeded our usual amounts”

To be married with “The 2024 budget reflects a modified cash flow for all activities of $34,500. This budget follows along the BOG’s budget projections for the next five years. Currently the organization is in a very strong fiscal position with more than $6,000,000 in surplus cash and investments. However, long-term trends of flat revenues combined with growing expenses show an eventual negative cash flow from operations. The 2024 budget reflects the BOG’s goal to incrementally increase revenue sources and decrease expenses between now and 2028.”

Why do they need 6 mil in reserves? Lower bar dues now!

and every year each BoG candidate pretends to be offended by these out of town retreats that essentially purposefully exclude 95% of the bar and here we are.

The parade of Democratic elected officials who literally have nothing to do with VGK is frankly abominable. Every single elected official on taxpayer money attending this event being a (D) in this case. Frankly I don’t care if any of the Congressional delegation goes to the White House because they are already in Washington DC and can represent Nevada just fine.

This is not a partisan issue; it is a taxpayer issue. If VGK won the Stanley Cup in 2018 and I saw a laundry list of (R) elected officials at the White House riding on Bill Foley’s coattails I would say the exact same thing. There is absolutely no reason for any of those people to be horning in on this White House trip. They can fly to Washington D.C. and line up for a tour just like any other citizen. Shameful.

Do you post every year (minus the COVID year) that the Stanley Cup winners attend a White House reception with the party rep’s from that state? It must get tiring holding that banner of criticism every year, but if you do I salute you! Not everyone is as consistent in their criticisms of politicians honoring hockey teams and their Stanley Cup celebrations. You must be fun at parties…

Will say it again using smaller words this time. I don’t care that Rosen/Lee/CCM/Titus or Horsford are at the White House. Amodei’s District has very little proximity to anything VGK related so why would he be invited. The greater issue is why State Representatives and County Commissioners would be flown there for what should be a non-political event.

Barbara Buckley appears to have been at the white house today for a policy briefing. Sounds like it might have been multipurpose trip for some.

It was not just Barb. It was several people from LACSN. Living it up at the WH.
Yet another reason why I will never take any cases from that organization.
Makes zero sense.

Did you read the article or just cite the headline? The story said it felt “bipartisan” because the players said that they would not talk politics. Not a single mention of that the non-VGK attendees were bipartisan.

My experience with LVMPD leads me to believe Ms Sisolak and her colleagues’ comments are well founded. I see no lie. Looks like a political witch hunt initiated by a retired cop with an agenda who targeted a PD with a recognizable name. Maybe Lombardo can spend a bunch of tax dollars investigating this big nothing burger???

Since when do we want public defenders who lick the boots of the police? If the constitution is going to be preserved, PD’s have gotta have a “fuck the police” attitude. Especially in this town. Let’s not kid ourselves, Metro isn’t exactly the most upstanding effective police department in the country.

The GOP actively promotes defunding the IRS (tax police) the FBI, and the Department of Energy (nuclear police).

No it is not. Look at Jacob Frey. You’re simply wrong. Parroting a bumper sticker you saw on your morning commute does nothing to contribute to the conversation.

There is a topic heading from the Moderator for discussion of “Big crowd of elected officials at VGK ceremony at the White House.” Is the fact that each and every elected official who was invited to be part of the VGK celebration was a Democrat some third-rail secret? Is the State Assemblyman for Sunrise/Frenchman’s Mountain necessary for the VGK Celebration or at least more deserving than say the Governor or Lt. Governor?

The OP’s point was that she/he thought it was weird to have assemblypersons who have nothing to do with VGK there regardless of political party. However to infer that Nevada is only represented by Democrats in what should be an otherwise politics neutral event does seem weird.

Is there evidence to support the suggestion that all NV elected officials were not invited? There’s a trend since Obama was in office in which republicans refused to appear at any event with a democrat. Remember when Chris Christie made headlines by appearing with Obama to tour the damage done by Sandy? Is this just a situation in which Lombardo refused to appear with Biden to prevent the president from having a picture with a republican governor?

I was referring to your reference to a some organized “republican boycott” of democrat presidential events. I am keenly aware of the “hug”.

Chris Christie was a cuck for Obama and has no place in the race for the big chair in this day and age.

Oh, ok. So first it wasn’t a thing and then when I produce a very well know, well publicized example of the thing, now that’s a thing, but a special thing that only happened once and the doer of the thing is a cuck. Good logic.

Anyone who uses “cuck” is not using anything even closely resembling logic. They demand goose-stepping and bootlicking worship of their chosen one, not independent thought or action.
