Vote For Me Videos

  • Law

  • The RJ has a 2016 voting guide up with 1-minute videos from several of the candidates running for justice court. Now’s your chance to finally see candidates in a format other than that one picture on the signage. We didn’t watch all of them yet, so let us know if there is anything we must see.
  • Today is the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Clark County Public Defender’s office. [RJ]

8:32: I was about to call you a "hatin' ass hater," but I decided it best to look up this gem before doing so… You are not a hatin' ass hater, this dude is genus: assius, species: clownus… Embarrassing to the GOP… Apparently the GOP is now the bad hair party… Comb over central… Pony tail posse… There is a former PD that would fit in just great with his bad comb over… Except, his suits are too wrinkly, and his shaking is worse than Michael J. Fox in the North Pole…

I saw that "Attorney" and had to check it out. Maybe he invented a time machine and already passed the July 2016 bar exam?

Dear LaBay – you might have a degree in Psychology. That doesn't make you a Psychologist. You might have a J.D. That doesn't make you a lawyer. You know what does? Having your name show up here:
https://www.nvbar.org/find-a-lawyer/?usearch=labay

Your name ain't there.

And even if you pass the NV Bar, your name won't be there for a year or two.

He claims he is the only candidate in his race with "legal experience"…. He also has the "legal know-how" to blah blah blah.

Meh. His spiel is pretty standard campaign talk. Probably couldn't mess anything up worse than anyone else. Legislators are pretty fungible. Also, youth in politics is a double-edged sword. Although narrow experience in life is a minus (and his life experience is likely not much narrower than most career politicians), less experience is politics is a plus, because it generally means the person is less corruptible, or at least he still has a chance to preserve his integrity at this early stage.

11:05 here. I must add, however, that calling yourself an attorney before passing the bar is an indicator of a tendency to stretch the truth.

Makes it even worse to talk about how he's the only one with any legal experience when another one of the candidates also graduated from Boyd. Not just Boyd either, Boyd '13 baby! It appears the other guy is actually a lawyer too.

From his website: "The Only Candidate With Relevant Legal Experience. Our laws need to be written by somebody who knows how they function in the real world." Are you freaking kidding me? In the "real world." Getting into facebook and twitter arguments during class does not count as understanding how laws function.

Oh, goody. He's been endorsed by Voldemort. Well, that's all you need to know, then.

If going through law school hasn't taught you to realize how much you don't know, and you graduate making stupid boasts like that, then your law school education was wasted.

8:32 and 8:42, if his history is any indication, a prediction of future ethic violations is not baseless.

Wait – so on Scott Holper's 'voters guide' he says "
On average, I represent 25/30 clients every day on matters pertaining to Family, Civil, Juvenile and Criminal law. The majority of my day is spent inside of the courtroom"

How in the hell does one personally handle 25 to 30 cases each day, unless of course he's talking speeding tickets as a 'case'?

Anyone else get the "phishing" email from the State Bar today and notice that the address at the bottom of the email for the State Bar was incorrect. Was I being phished about being phished? Or is the State Bar of Nevada really that incompetent?
