I know Law Dawg did not write the RJ’s headlines, but the “Jewish” employee who is alleging religious discrimination is Messianic Jewish. So basically a Protestant, albeit with some unorthodox beliefs.

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. They believe Jesus was the Messiah, which is the defining feature of Christianity, and Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jews all agree they’re not Jewish.

In the vast majority of Messianic congregations, wearing a head covering is a matter of personal preference and individual spiritual conviction rather than a mandate. While modesty is highly encouraged for both men and women, synagogues rarely enforce a rule requiring women to cover their hair.

Many regular Jewish sects/congregations do not “mandate” (whatever that means) head coverings. I’m not even Jewish and I know that. This distinction does not matter. The court isn’t going to wade into a debate about the contours of religious doctrine. This is as stupid as the people who argued the City of Las Vegas could force the LDS Church to build the Lone Mountain Temple without a steeple because other temples don’t have steeples. Employers don’t get to decide what is and isn’t acceptable religious doctrine as to headcoverings, NIMBY folks don’t get to have a vote in what is authentically religious or necessary in religious architecture. If you are a person who is seriously wading into a debate about the doctrine of a faith other than your own because you want to limit or control the rights of others, you are a special kind of awful.

I thought her responses in the article were well thought out and didn’t shy away from having gone through something private in public. I thought it was interesting how she addressed the LVRJ poll.

I’ve litigated against Bauhaus many times. I’ll be voting for Lilly-Spells, despite the misdemeanor.

Both options aren’t great but at least Bauhaus would hold people accountable and keep defendants in custody

I don’t understand why the article doesn’t explain the circumstances in which Lilly-Spells was arrested. Her toddler of a husband called the police because she took away his video game consul when he was neglecting the children as a stay-at-home dad. The police chose to arrest her because he called them, and she didn’t want the father of her children, and African-American man to get in to any trouble.

I wish judges would punish those of you who float from lie to lie with impunity. If I was a judge and an attorney lied to me, I would sanction them and refer them to the bar. I could not imagine standing in open court, looking a judge in the eyes and flat out lying to them. But it happens so often, it’s a yawner. The liars do it so much its second nature, almost an involuntary reflex.

Have a case now where OC does this at literally every hearing. I have never seen anything so blatant and egregious. And the judge just doesn’t care. It’s wild.

Chances are that it is not that the Court does not care. Chances are that you are the boy/girl who cries wolf and leans on “the other side is lying.” Judges look at the evidence; he said/she saids and accusations of “lying” often do not land well.

Austin Beaumont chose to spend some of the $3500 he had left on hand at the last C&E Report on law blog ads. Interesting choice.

I suspect he is going to lose because Judge Petersen is running a spirited campaign. I see her everywhere. I have only seen Beaumont a few times.

She has absolutely smashed him in fundraising, beating him by like 5:1. She is an absolute work horse on the campaign trail, which should surprise no one that has cases in front of her.

source? His website still has the turnkey set of endorsements from that manager. Doesn’t he lose those if the manager dumps him?

He wouldn’t lose the endorsements already given. Ask him, or ask Tom Letizia. He is no longer representing him.

Those packaged endorsements are the biggest value that Letizia brings. Hire Letizia and you instantly get to put like 12 law enforcement badges on your campaign materials. Nevermind that one of them is the Washoe County Schools Police Association, LOL. I am skeptical that Letiria dumped him and didn’t take Letizia’s endorsement package with him. Why let that value go for free?

What’s funny about this post is that the only person who fixates on Beaumont’s endorsements is Peterson. Every time he gets one over her, she goes ballistic in the courthouse, yelling and griping to other judges, attorneys, staff, etc. Very classy, very chic.

let’s stay out of Beaumont’s personal life. If they broke up, who cares. They are both nice people. Respect their privacy. He’s running for judge which is extremely stressful. Both he and his opponent are running fair balanced campaigns. Leave the salacious stuff out.

She also spent her time at the bar conference in Hawaii accosting attorneys who had donated to him, and kept repeating the exact amount of money he’d raised at that point in the campaign. It’s a bad look.

The Nevada Supreme Court found that Petersen violated the 1st Amendment during the Chasing Horse trial by silencing the free press…that is someone not fit to be on the bench.

That’s very reductivist. She is very well prepared for hearings. She works very hard. I like that I can count on her to have read everything, including the exhibits. I like that she is consistent and predictable. It makes advising clients much easier. I have donated, will donate again.

Peterson is consistent in the fact that she doesn’t follow the law, chastises attorneys who correct her in court, and focuses on off-handed topics that have nothing to do with the briefings in front of her.

What a joke

There’s a big difference between most judges, who work hard at the law, and Peterson, who somehow works to make the law look hard.

Washoe? You mean the county where Egan Walker is your chief judge and they have had one judge removed for stalking and another judge running unopposed while on double secret probation for the last nine months? That Washoe?

Nye – Data Center Development Ban
Stupid. Nye will lose.

Addendum: I checked with ChatGPT and it agrees with me.

Further Addendum: I just received a message from Claude, “Resistance is futile”.
