I agree 1000% with 11:24 – I loved Marren and Gaston – I watched a hearing where Hardcastle sentenced and took a young lady to jail because she missed a visitation from a medical emergency fully documented from the hospital, he said "should have made other arrangements"
Totally agree. I've dealt with both the Hardcastles in family court as senior judges and as settlement judges. Jerry just tells the litigants how their lawyers suck and Kathy is a raging b*. She is quite possibly one of the meanest people I've ever dealt with in court.

If they are the best Plaintiff/Defendant mediator they are a terrible mediator in my book. I want the mediator that gets cases settled and doesn't have a Plaintiff/Defendant bias. Just saying, and just an opinion from a "The Billable Dumbass."
Have not posted today i.e., I'm none of the above – but 9:41 missing the point – I think 8:19 is saying that if you are the P who would you want for a Mediator (or D who would you want) – of course, that only makes them "good" for that side IF they get it settled
Had the same reaction as 9:41. The most important attribute of a fine neutral is exactly that–to be neutral.
That said, yes, in a given field certain neutrals are often chosen by the plaintiff or the defense if the mediator's personal lean or predilection will assist that side, so in that sense I get why 8:19 frames it as to who is best for each side in a given field.
But, more basically, if someone is a good strategic pick for a certain side due to the mediator's personal lean or bias, they really have not understood the true necessity of being an effective, across the board, neutral.
That could make them a wise strategic selction for a given side,
My choice of mediators sometimes depends on how much client control I have. Sometimes I need a mediator who will beat the crap out of my client for me.

That could make them a wise strategic selection for a given side, but not truly a neutral.

Unrelated topic:
Dr. A – a chiro that some PI attorneys use – has his office on E. Charleston in between LV Blvd. and Maryland Parkway.
What's his full name, and his phone number? Don't have time to do a drive-by.
Memo to all attorneys: if it takes the same amount of time to type the question into an email as it does in google, (or worse, type out correspondence in an email to be "transferred to our letterhead"), you are the problem.
Blog is dead.
Yepper. No main post from the moderators today. Worried that quickdrawmclaw and lawdog may have met with foul play.

How Kathy and Jerry Hardcastle continued to be reelected was always a mystery to me. Both lacked empathy and were terrible judges.
Ishi is the best Family Mediator I know presently because she calms parties down in really heated mediations.
