“Women are no less responsible for their actions than men, and should be held accountable,” said Stephanie Akhter, the director of the council’s Women’s Justice Commission. “If we really want to stop crime and put people on a path to success, then we need to take an individualized approach and craft responses that are fair and in service of those goals,” Akhter told Stateline.
So women should be held equally responsible but lets treat them differently? Maybe advocate individualized considerations for everyone.

Does an NRCP 30(b)(6) depo still have a maximum time-limit of 7 hours or do you get 7 hours per deposition (assuming multiple deponents)?
Per person they produce. They can produce 1 or 10.
What do you all do for exercise? We have such sedentary jobs.
Nooners. 1-2x a week.
Me too. Same person?
there should be a club
Doug Crawford used to have one.
Let me start by saying I absolutely despise gymnasiums and the people who hang out in gymnasiums admiring themselves in mirrors. These are horrible people in smelly places. It’s just a gross experience, no matter how ritzy the gym. Something about the smell of other peoples’ sweat makes me gag. Yech.
About a year ago I turned our never-used 4th bedroom (12’4″x10’10”) into an exercise room. I also hired a personal trainer who comes to my home twice a week.
It’s not as expensive as you might think.
Less than 12 months of the cost of a premium gym membership paid for the remodel of the bedroom and the exercise equipment. I found high-end gently-used professional equipment on Facebook Marketplace at a small fraction of it’s retail cost.
And here’s something else to consider: When you hire a personal trainer at a gym at $65/hr, the personal trainer keeps half and the gym keeps half. I pay my trainer $45/hr and she keeps 100%. And she’s more than happy to drive the 10 minutes to my house.
With a gym in my home I work out more and drive less.

I have a little mini elliptical under my desk and it’s fantastic
Orange Theory Fitness. I show up and do what they tell me and get a high intensity interval training workout. Nice part – the only person you compete against is yourself. Crossfit just about killed me a few years ago trying to keep up with the buff kids doing 100 deadlifts a minute and complaining they went “crazy last night” eating three extra blueberries, while I tried to hide the empty frosting can on the floor of my car. Worth trying a free class.
I love OTF as well– mostly being able to put my phone away for an hour & just do what I am told, no other things to worry about. It’s a nice mental break and a good workout.
Workout and play a sport a few times per week.
The prison conditions in Nevada are horrible. NDOC needs to be held accountable through more litigation. Prisoners should be given access to medicine and basic safety.
They also need help with funding and turnover. Pretty much lowest paid personnel in law enforcement. Medical budget is a pittance compared to what they need.
It’s much easier to campaign and legislate putting people in prison than taking care of them after they get them there.
Nevada prisons are running a scam. They were $100 million over budget for overtime. Stop paying guys double time and hire people. There were employees supposedly working 24 hours a day. The solution is not more money, but manage the money correctly to start, then more money as needed.
Sounds like a problem brought on, at least in part, by a combination of factors: low pay and benefits, working conditions, and work location.
It’s prison. Not a vacation.
