Was the car maker liable? Or GEICO?

Seems like some interesting Missouri law was at play regarding rights of intervenors and allowing the injured party "to collect on the judgment only from ‘the specific assets listed in the contract,’ and from ‘any insurer which insures the legal liability of the tort-feasor." https://www.courts.mo.gov/file.jsp?id=187183

Geico insured the guy who gave the Plaintiff HPV.

The article says Geico had a chance to settle before arbitration but didn't. What likely happened then, is that Geico is on the hook for anything over policy limits. And the arbitration award is definitely above policy limits. Poor Geico. Womp womp.

I read the blog a few hours ago and recall there being a few comments on the Kavenaugh story. They did not seem extreme or inflammatory (maybe they went sideways in the last few hours?) but at least one was clearly contrasting the way incitement to action appears to be treated differently by the media and govt based on who made the statements. Now it is gone. Maybe my memory is failing worse than my age would suggest but I suspect it is the bloglords fabled use of the delete function. Curious that.

It was entirely a "gotcha" post, it wasn't a good faith discussion on the issue.

If you don't want politics discussed on this site, then they shouldn't post topics of a political nature, or discuss any positions that are up for election.

I understand it is a LAW blog – you do realize that Supreme Court Justices, the leaded opinion, equal protection, equal treatment of Trump vs Schumer's statements, etc. is all very LAWY – how is that not law? The biggest takeaway I have is that this blog is like everything else in America right now, any hint of anything other than a rule of evidence or something is going to have someone saying it is not politically correct. Damn I wish I could go somewhere and have a spirited conversation with someone who could be civil and simply discuss something without getting all butthurt. I am not one of the posters above. What a sorry impression we make on the new generation of attorney's that might stumble onto this blog.

Do I have this right? only 2 people applied to the open DC seat. They judicial selection committee is supposed to send the top 3 applicants to the governor. Do the 2 applicants just go straight to the Gov? Also as I understand it, as the vacancy was after the filing period, ANYONE can file for the seat the day after the Primary is over. We could have 10+ people file for this seat. If I am correct, we get a repeat of 2020, a ton of candidates that nobody knows and a bunch of unqualified candidates that will have a real shot to win.

SCOTUS lost what was left of its legitimacy when it summarily rejected any consideration of Texas v. Pennsylvania, et al. What is coming they asked for. Good job, Roberts. If the rumor is true, he pushed rejection of the case because he was afraid of Antifa and other goons. Well, guess what, now you get even more goons right on your doorstep. This time with the support of the DOJ.
