Thanksgiving 2025

  • Law

We hope that each of you has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Please be smart and refrain from drinking and driving. If any of you are struggling with the challenges of life, work, politics, etc., please don’t give up. There are people that care about you and people that can help. There are more people going through the same stuff than you can possibly imagine and you don’t have to do it alone. Reach out and let someone know you’re struggling. If you’re not struggling right now, consider checking in on someone else and letting them know you care.

What are you all grateful for this year? As always, we’re grateful for each of you who read, comment, and make suggestions to make this blog what it is. Thanks for being part of this with us!

I wish that everyone had today, tomorrow, and Friday off each year. I wish in general we got more holidays where everyone gets the time off. I know the argument is that it isn’t practical–especially in a tourist trap like Vegas, but they do it in Europe. There isn’t a whole lot to do on December 25 or 26 because everyone is celebrating–hanging at home with family, visiting neighbors. You’re right–maybe I should just move to Europe! lol.

Anyway happy thanksgiving everyone! I hope those of us working actually close up early today and enjoy some down time. Gobble gobble.

Unfortunately we need to increase shareholder value instead.

When I was in big law there was nothing better than working 80-hour weeks to protect 3 cents a share in stock prices.

Believe it or not, I’m grateful for this blog. I don’t appreciate than on occasion I’ve been blocked and even, on rare occasion, banned, but I’ve learned a lot about the Las Vegas legal community. (I’m licensed in another state.)

Happy Thanksgiving
I wish everyone well, even those with whom I disagree with their politics.
Have a great and safe holiday weekend.

My boss is making half the office work today. Is this normal?

Having to work today
Dude or Dudette feeling privileged and entitled. Friday is a business day, not a holiday or weekend. If your employer grants you the day off be thankful.

The day after Thanksgiving has been a Nevada state holiday since 1987. Family Day.

Can we have a serious discussion about partners who DEMAND associates perform free legal services for coworkers? Don’t they realize the associate will learn things they probably should not know and the coworker may be an uncooperative entitled brat? It rarely ends well and oh by the way, why didn’t the partner agree to provide the free services himself/herself?

Why don’t you build some goodwill with your boss and the employee, not to mention it is your job.
