Post link on the will? Was it ever determined that the Howard Hughes will was legit. The Howard Hughes case settled and the file was sealed so unknown as I was told.
The Howard Hughes file is still very public and can be downloaded. After a trial, a jury found that it was a forgery. However, there are many that still believe Melvin Dummar (RIP).
Members of the jury later said that basically the whole thing hinged on them believing one of Hughes’ old assistants that said there was no way that what Dummar said could have happened. There was a fair amount of credible testimony that supported Dummar. And the Will itself was forensically right (right paper, right ink, etc). So it really could have gone either way. But at the end of the day the Jury just believed one person more than another.
The question people should be asking is who benefits from a fraudulent will coming forward, other than the attorneys for the estate who are fighting it?
The Dude: Rug pee-ers did not do this. Look at it: a young trophy wife, marries this guy for his money, she figures he hasn’t given her enough, you know, she owes money all over town.
Walter Sobchak: That, fuckin’ – bitch…
The Dude: It’s all a god damn fake, man. It’s like Lenin said: you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh, you know…
Donny: I am the walrus.
The Dude: You know, you’ll uh, uh – well, you know what I’m trying’ to say…
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: That fucking bitch!
The Dude: Oh yeah!
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: Shut the fuck up, Donny! V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!
Donny: What the fuck is he talking about?

The Hseih battle is making me think the VHS video will from Brewster’s Millions is now the gold standard in trusts and estates authentication and security.
A video recitation by the settlor explaining why they did what they did, and a contemporaneous certificate of competency from a licensed MD, held by your estate planning attorney is never a bad idea.
There have been systematic firings for months. A few have been on the pretext of “the governor called and you didn’t answer his summons immediately.” Otherwise, it is if you angered an ally of the JR and the R (rhymes with job) family (at least that’s the threat their associates make on the regular). Why do you think the seller of the Vegas government offices named a “park” after them on their way out?
Is a $50 gift certificate and card acceptable as a holiday gift to give to my assistant/paralegal for the holidays? I am a non-owner of my firm. Assistants and paralegals get bonuses paid by the firm. I have only had my current assistant/paralegal for a few months.
I’m a government attorney and gave each staff member a $50 target gift card – I think it is good to be in the practice of doing your own gifts/thank yous even as just a fellow colleague. Some years I’ve had my gift be the only one someone got. Also make sure to give something to janitorial staff, mail carriers, etc. Bonus: buy them at Smith’s on 4x fuel point days and get a savings on your next fill up. Smith’s also has the 10 packs of $5 Starbucks cards and I carry those for people like crossing guards or other folks I interact with.
Unfortunately, unlike Howard Hughes, seems like this will is pretty bogus. It’s too bad, would have been a great trial.
I just read the recent filing re the supposed will. This thing sounds like an obvious Nigerian prince scam. Just red flags everywhere you look.

The way Dummar disclosed the will, and later lied about it, did not help his cause.
I find the “spruce goose” thing the most suspicious.

Who actually does that?
I have done it quite a few times when you know that competency or undue influence are likely to be alleged.
A statutory certificate of independent review is the best option. A video gives too many footholds for discovery questions.
If the estate is big enough, it’s a great idea to cut off undue influence and competency challenges.
Anyone have the deets on why the State Engineer (top water regulator in the state) was fired?
Just speculating here, but it had to come from Governor’s office. Follow the money and voila, you’ll find the lobbyist behind it.
