I’ve had some cases with a few of the “Legal Elite”. They were anything but elite.
it’s cause you can buy yourself onto the list 🙂
you can’t.. you have to be nominated. if you get nominated then you can buy self ads
Joey Gilbert???????????????
There’s some excellent attorneys on the list, and some dipshits.
Having been on that list, you don’t buy your way on. I asked some friends and colleagues to vote for me and I made the cover. It has been useful for marketing and makes a good wall decoration.
I made it as a third year with no self-marketing. But I stopped making it a few years in. Obviously, I did not deserve it as a third year. I was at a good firm and most of my bosses did not make the list. It seems like the people most excited about voting are either: (1) practitioners that self-market and/or ask lawyer friends to vote for them; (2) young lawyers with a lot of lawyer friends that all vote for each other; and (3) actual good lawyers that are well known. My three categories are not mutually exclusive or entirely exhaustive.
I’m a relatively recent law school grand and a relatively new attorney, and I appreciate seeing other new attorneys on a list like this. There are even a few of my class mates, and I can say that some of them are the cream of my class-I’m sure they deserve this great accolade early in their career. Others… not as much.
In any event, if I were on this list I’d be proud and I’d happily hang it on my office wall. But not being on this list doesn’t affect me any way.
Nice work to the “Legal Elite”
Anybody know where Scott Ulm and Jared Christensen went? They were at Bremer for a long time and are no longer on the site.
Scott Ulm is at Dimopoulous
Can confirm that Ulm is at Dimopoulos.
Scott is a really great dude. Always nice, great attitude, pleasure to practice with.
Anyone have a recommendation for representing a client before the commercial driver’s license clearing house? I have no idea if I am describing this right, but basically client is a commercial truck driver and was given a drug test which was not administered pursuant to industry standards. It came back positive. He immediately got tested again at a real lab and it came back clean. So now his life is being ruined because he has this recorded of a positive drug test with the clearing house. Apparently, there is some type of procedure to appeal this with them. Do you know of anyone who deals with these types of CDL issues? Thanks in advance.
Positive drug test and CDL is a real problem. I would be interested in learning what is the process and outcome.
I’ve been at this for 15 years now, and I feel like I’m pretty well established in my reputation and ability to originate work. 10 years ago, my buddies and I would always vote for each other for Legal Elite. We were hustling and building. You see a lot of 3, 5, 7 year attorneys on that list. They’re hustling, working to make a name. No reason to hate.
The reason to “hate” on it is exactly what you said. People hustling to make a name and voting for their buddies does not amount to being a good attorney.
