Johnny Hamcheck would’ve brought his own cheesesteak ingredients to the courthouse and asked the judge to cook them.

My God. The Nevada Independent article is depressing. Good thing a government attorney with no business experience will take over soon.

I mean, you could just vote for Mike Murphy. If nothing else, he’s a capable administrator in the “I can make sure the damn checks get deposited before they go stale and I can meet deadlines” meaning. And really, that’s all you need from a PA. His opponent is squawking about how she’s the only licensed attorney in the race, as if that really matters for the PA. Competence > licensure.

Let’s not overlook that Mike Murphy possesses the requisite glabrous visage of a Clark County Public Administrator, not to mention his vertically economical stature ensures no taxpayer money will be wasted on retrofitting the existing workplace accomodations.

I am a Republican and I like Mike. I also can look at the data and my interactions with the PA Office to see that things did not get better while Mike was interim at the helm. Now Mike says “But it was really screwed up”; it was. But I was not impressed that anything got better under his watch.

Mike says it was really screwed up, but Mike also says that the Interim job didn’t let him make many changes because Rob was still running the place. Then Rob wasn’t running the place because jail, and Rita got elected, so now Rita was running the place. So Mike’s main job was trying to actively prevent Rob from taking a flamethrower to the office.

If you can look past all the adultery, stabbin’ and murderin’ Telles was pretty good about moving PA cases along. He inherited a massive backlog from Cahill, much of which still persists. The current office is mess.

Could someone that understands the process and also the regulatory barricades that may prevent efficient closing of cases, explain to the rest of us whether it is an impossible task? How would you chunk through each of these and get rid of the issues? This seems like the DNA testing and rape kit issue with nothing getting done and no one expressly explaining what is preventing orderly movement.

Lord help you civil practitioners who have do stuff in Courtrooms 5A-5D. It is the wild and wooly West on that floor. Like someone knew to quarantine all of that on one level.

Completely disagree re 5A. Have been in Dept 27 for several business court cases and found her to always be well prepared and well reasoned (even when ruling against me).

5A (Department 27) does not have any Business Court cases so not certain how you ended up in her courtroom. 27 makes up her own rules and laws so vigorously that I have looked at my opposing counsel and shrugged at having to prepare an Order that makes no sense. 5C has gotten better.

5A/27 gets overflow Business Court cases. So certainly possible. But let’s not lump everyone on floor 5 together. There’s some good and bad, as there is generally across the judiciary.
